Description

The Gearwrench Combination Ratcheting wrenches feature a 5 degree Ratcheting Arc vs. 30 degree on a standard combination wrench increasing productivity. The wrenches feature off-corner loading for better grip and reduced fastener rounding. The wrenches have a sleek head design allowing access to tight spots where a ratchet would not fit.

I have owned 3 different brands of ratcheting wrenches over the last 12 years. One of them being this brand. The last few years I noticed that a couple of the “other brand” ratcheting wrenches weren’t working correctly and were either binding up or spinning loosely. All of my Gearwrench ones were still functioning with no issues, so I decided just to buy this kit and replace all of them.

Can’t go wrong with this brand, especially with lifetime guarantee… and even more especially if you don’t even have to use that guarantee often or at all!

I bought these as I left my son have my other set because he loved them so much. I seldom use a ratchet wrench anymore as these are more convenient. They are extremely sturdy and you can use them in tight spaces where no ratchet wrench would fit. I recently experienced this when trying to remove my radiator from my car. They are not suitable to remove frozen & rusted bolts, just like a normal ratchet wrench. For these situations I use a breaker bar with a fixed socket and usually an extra pipe around the breaker bar for more force. As soon as a frozen bolt is loosened then these wrenches work well the rest of the way. They do work also on just very tight bolts that are not rusted and frozen. I have left them out in the rain a few times and they do not seem to rust. I do add a few drops of light oil in the turning part to provide some lubrication but not sure if I would need to do this.

This wrench set is a great value. Having the stubby and standard wrenches is very helpful. If you’ve ever worked on German cars, you know you will need multiple sizes of the same tool, because everything is so closely packed and there can be very little room to get a hand or a tool in. The ratcheting end works very well in those tight spaces, especially, the stubbies.
Many reviewers have noted quality issues with GearWrench. I own this set and several others and a couple sets of their impact sockets. I haven’t seen quality issues with mine and I own over 100 of their wrenches, but also, I only work on my personal vehicles, so my tools mostly see weekend use.

First set of gear wrenches I’ve purchased as an aircraft mechanic. Definitely a must have for hard to reach areas, especially the stubbies. This set contains the majority of the sizes you’d need, except for the 1/4”, 7/8” and 1” you’d have to buy separately. Good quality and price. My only gripe would be that they are rather thick around the ends, and there’s no directional switch on these ones

I have been using these wrenches for 2 years now (lightly) but have had a good experience with them. If you just need a set of wrenches for a tool bag I wouldn’t get anything else unless you need them for very heavy use. They have never broke on me and will continue to be in my tool bag.
