Bought this a few months after buying another deep fryer. I had moved from deep frying to pan frying just because of ease of cleanup; but I was intrigued by the fact that this product had the filtration/storage option.

This thing is AWESOME. First of all, food started coming out really good just because deep frying submerges the chicken and temperature control is built in. But the filtering out to the storage container was REALLY cool. Makes it easy to clean up – just dump stuff in the dishwasher – and reuse oil.

My girlfriend saw it and immediately was jealous. I bought a second one for her as a gift the next day.

The T-fal 3.5L Stainless Steel Deep Fryer with Basket has been a fantastic addition to my kitchen. With its powerful 1700W heating element, oil filtration system, temperature control, digital timer, and dishwasher-safe parts, this deep fryer offers exceptional performance and convenience.

One of the features I appreciate most is the oil filtration system. The built-in oil filtration mechanism ensures that the oil remains clean and reusable, which is both economical and environmentally friendly. The system automatically drains and filters the oil into a separate container, making it easy to store and reuse without any hassle. This feature alone has significantly reduced the amount of oil I need to use and has kept my fried foods tasting fresh and delicious.

The temperature control is another standout feature. The adjustable thermostat allows for precise temperature settings, ensuring that food is cooked perfectly every time. Whether I’m frying chicken, fish, or fries, I can easily set the temperature to achieve crispy and evenly cooked results. The quick heating element ensures that the oil reaches the desired temperature rapidly, saving time and energy.

The digital timer adds to the convenience of this deep fryer. It allows me to set the cooking time accurately, preventing overcooking or undercooking. The timer also features an audible alarm that alerts me when the cooking process is complete, so I can focus on other tasks without worrying about constantly monitoring the fryer.

The design and construction of the T-fal deep fryer are impressive. The 3.5L capacity is perfect for family meals and entertaining guests. The stainless steel construction is not only durable and long-lasting but also adds a sleek and modern look to my kitchen. The large frying basket is spacious and easy to handle, allowing for efficient frying of multiple items at once.

One of the most convenient aspects of this deep fryer is the dishwasher-safe parts. The frying basket, oil container, and lid can all be removed and placed in the dishwasher, making cleanup a breeze. This feature saves me a lot of time and effort, ensuring that the fryer is always clean and ready for the next use.

The T-fal deep fryer also features a viewing window on the lid, which allows me to monitor the cooking process without opening the fryer and releasing heat. This helps maintain the optimal cooking temperature and prevents oil splatters, keeping my kitchen cleaner.

Overall, the T-fal 3.5L Stainless Steel Deep Fryer with Basket has exceeded my expectations. Its combination of efficient oil filtration, precise temperature control, convenient digital timer, and easy-to-clean design makes it an essential appliance for anyone who enjoys fried foods. The deep fryer has significantly improved my cooking experience, providing delicious and perfectly fried meals every time. I highly recommend this deep fryer to anyone looking for a reliable, high-quality kitchen appliance. It has become an indispensable part of my cooking routine, ensuring that frying is always easy, efficient, and enjoyable.

I read a lot of reviews before I bought this and the most common issues I saw was with the magnetic power cord being too short and disconnecting easy, temperature discrepancies, and oil overflowing when draining. I’ve had none of these issues (more on the oil overflow later). The power cord does seem short, but it’s the same length as my standard toaster oven. Every kitchen I’ve been in has outlets just above the counter, so I don’t see the problem. As for the power cord disconnecting… it’s easy to remove while remaining firm enough for use. It won’t disconnect unless someone pulls it or something falls on it at which point you want it to disconnect.

Cleaning is very easy. The control panel with the element comes out. You can drain the oil which gets filtered for reuse. The pan comes out for easy cleaning. I used a meat thermometer and got the same temp minus five degrees which is acceptable. Maybe people are using infrared to get just the surface temp? The oil tub that collects the filtered oil is made of a thick plastic with a capped drain on the corner which makes it easy to pour out. The tub, while very secure, still has a removable top which again makes cleaning easy.

Design flaws: The point of the control panel where the element comes out from should be reinforced. My first order came broken at that point. The element in the packaging wasn’t reinforced on the sides which allowed movement when UPS likely used my package as a basketball. I submitted a return request and not only did they have UPS pick it up at my house the next day (I didn’t need to print a label or anything), but they immediately sent a replacement which actually came before the gallon of oil which was bought at the same time as the original order. I was frustrated with the weak point, but impressed with the speed and ease of the return/replacement.

Second flaw is that there is zero wiggle room between the max level line and the oil capacity of the oil tub beneath. I filter the oil in two stages, just to make it easier. The way the tub is designed actually makes it possible to drain okay even if completely full, but I’d rather be safe and take the extra step. I also let the oil cool so it’s pretty warm with a low viscosity, but not hot where it will burn. This might actually be in the manual, but I don’t recall.

I’m a Senior. I use to own a Snack Food Manufacturing Company. I made Potato Chips and Fried Pork Rinds just for 2 items. As a teenager (so many years ago) I worked for several major Fast Food restaurants who made fries and learned the best way to make them. Therefore with this experience I know exactly how to make good fried foods. Fries, Fried Chicken, Shrimp Fritters, Fried Shrimp, Fried Okra, Fried Zucchini, etc.

This Fryer works great. What I mean is that it holds the proper temperature during frying. When any food is to be fried and goes in either frozen or at room temperature.. it will immediately drop the temperature of the oil. This fryer has a fast recovery. That means it’s thermostat is excellent and as it sees a drop in temperature it immediately turns on the element(s) to keep the temperature where it should be.

I also like the method T-Fal has invented to clean the fryer. It’s easy to drain and strain the oil and clean the frying bowl. The fry basket is large and I can get two potatoes worth of fries in one basket. For these reasons I highly recommend this fryer. Below is some info for a novice in the proper way to fry fries and other items.

    Fries:
» Use a high quality potato slicer which you can purchase here on Amazon. Otherwise cut your peeled potatoes 1/4″ thick. Wash them in cold water and agitate the slices until you see the water turn milky. This is taking the potato starch out of them.

» Dry the fries on a baking sheet lined with paper towels. I actually have a small fan that I use just like we did in the fast food restaurants in the old days. This reduces FOAMING and even loss of oil. When wet products are placed into the hot oil you’ll see foaming as oil and water don’t mix. In fact, as the water turns to steam it drops the temperature of the oil which means a longer frying time and makes the fryer work harder to keep the temperature up to the correct frying temperature. Note also as the water turns to steam tiny (micro) drops of oil cling to it and you’ll have a 1% or 2% drop of oil each time. And where does that oil go? Into the atmosphere and it will cling to your filter or wall or anything else. Dry your fries as much as possible.

» Fries should be fried twice. Bring your oil up to 350f for the 1st frying. Place a basket full of dried fries into the oil for 3 to 5 minutes. Your NOT going to cook them all the way through. This is a BLANCHING method. This will drive most of the moisture out of the fries and make them crispy for the 2nd frying.

» After blanching for a few minutes bring the fries up out of the oil and let them cool down to room temperature. I spread mine on a bakers rack which sits on a big baking sheet (found here on Amazon).

» Bring the oil up to 375f for the 2nd frying and fry them for 2 or 3 minutes until they turn golden brown. They will be nice and crispy.

» There are 2 Secret Ingredients that makes my fries taste so good… Lawry’s Seasoned Salt! Yes, it’s much better than plain salt and can be found here on Amazon. The 2nd ingredient is TALLOW. Lard is rendered pig fat. Tallow is rendered Beef fat. It has no smell and is pure white. It almost lasts forever! You can purchase it here on Amazon in buckets. For the average fryer you’ll need 2.5 lbs to 3 lbs. It’s pricey but for a reason. It’s EXCELLENT and it’s healthy. And here’s a secret from the old days. That restaurant with the Golden Arches.. you know the ones.. Before the mid-80’s – they use to fry their fries in TALLOW and 7% Peanut Oil. I do too! You need the peanut oil to just cover the heating elements at the bottom of the pan. Why? Tallow is kind of like lard in that it is soft white but not an oil UNTIL it gets hot. So if it’s directly on the heating elements it will smoke! Don’t do it! Put in the Peanut Oil first then put in the Tallow until the oil rises up to the Max line inside the frying bowl. For several years I’ve been purchasing the Peanut Oil in 1 Gallon containers from Amazon. It’s an excellent product and arrives fast. This is what made our Fries so tasty back in the day. If you study Tallow many doctors will even tell you how healthy it is. There are video’s about it on the internet.

How about frying Shrimp, Okra and Zucchini or Chicken? Here’s a great product also found here on Amazon. It’s called Louisiana Shrimp Fry. Actually the Louisiana Chicken Fry also seems to be the same ingredients.. just a change in the package labeling.

» Take 5 tablespoons of the Louisiana Shrimp or Chicken Fry and mix with 1/2 cup of water. Place your Shrimp or Okra or Zucchini or piece of Chicken into this mixture.

» Next place the rest of the dry ingredients (Shrimp or Chicken Fry) into a breading bowl or 1-gallon plastic bag. Remove your whatever you’re going to fry from the liquid mixture and place into the breading bowl or bag and shake vigorously to coat the item.

» Bring the temperature of your oil up to 350f. Fry the shrimp for 2.5 minutes (not to exceed 3 minutes) and 3 minutes for Okra or Zucchini till golden brown. For chicken it will take longer depending on what part of the bird you’re cooking. Use an instant read thermometer.

This will give you some of the best Southern style food you’ve ever tried.

A bit expensive simply for the auto filtration and oil storage but made my life easier so it’s worth it to me. Cooks well but keep in mind foods that float like fries will need a little stir about half way thru or you will get brown on one side and light on the other. This is basic cooking knowledge and nothing to do with product performance. I’m actually glad it doesn’t have a built in timer, just another thing that could malfunction. I would much rather use my digital magnetic timer stuck to my fridge, I can view to the seconds if I want and has a loud alarm, costed less than $5! I’ve learned over the years that often the best products have a simplicity about them, less bells and whistles to malfunction. The warm up time for me at 375 was about 10 minutes. Disassembles easily for cleaning. Just remember the oil will not filter into the storage tank while the oil is hot or if your filter is clogged (regular cleaning will prevent this). You simply turn the switch to filter and when the oil cools enough it will filter into the storage tank. I’m assuming there is some sort of temperature controlled valve in this filter device, and for a good reason, blistering hot oil would not be beneficial to a plastic storage container. This is not ideal for larger functions where double, triple, or quadruple fryers are needed but it does great for a average size family. Im completely satisfied with this product.

I decided to purchase a deep fryer in addition to my air fryer as some things just require being dunked in a vat of grease. The biggest issue with deep fryers are what to do with the oil after you’ve used it. After rummaging through the top-rated deep fryers, this one seemed to have consistently good reviews so I figured it would be well worth the added cost.

The deep fryer is extremely simple to use. You get the base unit, cover, the heating element with temperature dial, frying basket, oil pan with valve, and a plastic container to collect the filtered oil. All these parts can be cleaned individually, and only the heating element requires special care.

The pan has special markings for minimum and maximum oil. I didn’t realize how much oil was required and definitely had to run to the store to buy a few more bottles to reach the minimum amount. Prior to the deep fryer, I was using a small pot to do my frying.

Once you’ve got the oil in, you can plug the deep fryer in with the magnetic cord, turn the switch on and set the temperature. The light will turn off when it reaches the desired temperature and is ready for deep frying.

I’ve deep fried popcorn chicken and eggrolls in this machine and it works as advertised. You’re going to want to be a little below maximum oil levels in order for eggrolls to have the ability to float around while being submerged in oil. I can see this being an issue if you have particularly tall things to fry, but for most things you should be okay. The basket has an included groove that hooks onto the side of the pan, similar to how those deep fryer baskets at fast food restaurants work. This is so you can let the excess oil drip before transferring it over to a plate. Very handy!

One thing that needs to be mentioned is how to drain/filter the oil after use. I don’t know if I was missing an extra booklet or something, but I could not figure out HOW to get this to work. The manual made it look like if you move the switch to the “drain oil” setting, it would start doing so. Not in my experience. It may have to do with the viscosity of the oil when it’s hot, but the oil will only start draining after about 1.5 hours cooling off. There’s no electric sensor or anything– nothing will drain until the oil thins out or it’s cool enough for any pressure bubbles to release from the valve. I was impatient the first two attempts, and wound up manually pouring the oil in into the plastic box. On my third attempt, I decided to wait it out since I knew it was supposed to work (I tested with water and watched it drain as expected). Just give it some time and the oil will start to filter.

Another word of caution.. and this is a big one: HOLD ONTO THE LID WHEN REUSING OIL FROM THE CONTAINER. The lid is not sturdy at all, so when you start pouring the oil back into the pan, there’s a high chance the lid will fall off and oil will spill EVERYWHERE. I had this happen once and it is NOT fun cleaning oil from your counter top. This is a painful experience you only have to deal with once, because I’m never going to forget that moment.

Cleaning is very easy since everything is detachable.

    Conclusion:
All in all, I think this is the best (somewhat compact) deep fryer you can buy for your kitchen. Once I figured out how to get it working, it has been amazing to have a place to store your oil and easily reuse it. Cleanup is very easy, and there’s not much to fault about this device aside from the instructions and how easy it is for the lid to fall off when reusing the oil. I’m very happy with this purchase and think it’s well worth the extra bucks for the added convenience. I was cross-shopping the Breville Smart Fryer and another unit that had a similar easy-cleanup feature but avoided them when I saw the reviews mentioning oil leakage. Breville doesn’t have the easy cleanup feature so this was a no-brainer.

We had a deep fryer like this years ago. We bought another deep fryer about a year ago and got one that does not filter the oil because it was cheaper and available in a store. BIG MISTAKE. It was such a pain to clean and it was a chore getting everyone to clean or out. We ended up just throwing the other one away and buying this one.

This deep fryer is SO MUCH EASIER to keep clean. We just filter the oil, then clean the inside. The plug to empty the oil back into the fryer or into a bottle for disposal is a good size and spot and makes it easy to pour.

This fryer heats up quickly and holds the temperature well. It holds a decent amount of food as there are 6 of us.

We will definitely buy this one again if we ever need a new one.

I recently upgraded my kitchen with the T-Fal Electrics Stainless Steel Deep Fryer and it’s been an absolute game-changer for my cooking routines. This fryer, with its generous 3.5-liter oil capacity and 2.6-pound food capacity, has allowed me to experiment with a variety of fried foods, from crispy chicken wings to perfect French fries.

I was pleasantly surprised by the easy clean features and the dishwasher-safe parts, which significantly cut down on my cleanup time. Additionally, the oil filtration system is a standout feature, extending the life of the cooking oil and making storage a breeze.

However, I did find the fryer a little bigger than expected, which required some rearrangement on my countertop. But, this slight inconvenience is easily outweighed by its superior performance and results. One thing I would recommend is integrating a more robust filter system to lessen the odor that frying typically produces. While there is some odor reduction compared to other fryers, there’s always room for improvement.

Despite these minor points, my overall experience has been incredibly positive. It’s a high-quality, efficient, and user-friendly appliance that has earned a solid place in my kitchen. For anyone looking to elevate their frying game, this fryer is definitely worth the investment

Cooking and baking are a few of my passions. I read tons of reviews and narrowed my decision down to the T-fal 3.5 liter and the T-fal 1.8 liter. Some of the people who bought the 1.8 liter took it back and bought the 3.5 liter. I have an older deep fryer and i hated the grease that splashed. I hated leaving it on the counter after using it because i would want to use the oil a second time. I also didn’t like how the old fryer would take 20 minutes or longer between batches to reheat the oil. Since the T-Fal model was the only one with the ability to drain the oil, I knew this was the one i had to have. My daughter will be moving soon, so it will be just me at home. I finally decided on the 3.5 liter one. When the fryer arrived, i thought maybe i made a mistake because it looked pretty big. Well yesterday was my day to break it in. I saw some amazing egg rolls on the show Guilty pleasure and i was taking the egg rolls to a family day after wedding party. First the fryer oil temp indicator light would not come on. I moved the fryer near a different cord. I re-read the instructions and i used a toothpick and pushed in the reset button. ( I thought that was kind of weird to have to do when the fryer was brand new). I loved how the T-Fal kept the oil hot all the time. I did 5 batches of egg rolls in less than an hour. they were crispy and i put them in a pan on paper towel , standing up to travel. i unplugged the unit with the lid on and left. When i came home 4 hours later i turned the lever to drain and i was shocked the oil was completely yellow and clear and see through in the storage container. I was so happy. I wiped the unit down with a paper towel before i washed it. It was such a great, easy clean up. I was jumping up and down….(okay well i was excited) I was so happy i purchased the 3.5 liter because i would have had to make more batches with the 1.8 liter one. The only negative thing was the instruction times were no where close to the accurate time needed. I cooked the egg rolls 3 minutes. Unfortunately, the oil did not cover the top of the egg rolls. So i used tongs and flipped the egg rolls and cooked 2 minutes longer. So i used a timer on my microwave and cooked all 5 batches like that. I mixed brownies and put them in the oven while i was in the kitchen. Three of the guys at the party kept going back for another egg roll. They said the were trying to decide if they were any good! They were crispy and light and not greasy. I was very excited how the egg rolls turned out. I was very happy i purchased this fryer. Today i got up and used the culling french fry cutter and made my daughter fresh fries before she went to work. I also made mini wontons i bought at costco with chicken and cilantro . For dinner i cooked a Hillshire Polska Kielbasa in the deep fryer. I am going to slice it and take white cooked rice and fry it with bacon, soy sauce a splash of corn and one fried egg and add the Kielbasa. I do not write reviews, but this purchase made me so happy, I had to write one. I know i have only used this item 2 days. But i have owned a deep fryer and i know i love this one. The coil type thing that keeps the oil continually hot and the recycle oil feature that goes into a plastic storage container and is easy to repour in the fryer and the oil not splashing out and the easy clean up made this an exciting thing to add to my cooking equipment. I am actually researching the no oil or one tablespoon oil cookers for my next purchase because i am trying to cook healthier. But egg rolls are one of my favorite things and having the ability to make them for parties is a necessity for me. And the french fries were delicious, says my daughter.

I was in search of a new deep fryer to replace the my previous one. I was looking for something that professionals would use but at a "consumer" price. I have to say as soon as I saw this product and read the reviews, I had to try it out for myself. I have to say that this is simply the best deep fryer that I truly have ever owned. If I can rate this a 10 star review I would.
    Positives,.
    1. Quality.
    A. When I first opened the box and took the unit out, I can tell that it was made very well. The stainless steal, cover, basket, oil tray, etc…. was all made to last.
    2. Oil tray. This one added feature has already saved me money in reusing my oil. In my previous fryer, I would simply discard the oil after using it for only one time. Not only does this feature save you money, but is washable. You simply flip the switch on the front to the appropriate setting and the oil drains out. The secret is inside the machine. There is a screen that catches all the food particles before it hits the tray. This way you are getting screened oil to use again. I only recommend using the oil 1 or 2 more times depending upon how much you are frying. This is feature has to be one of my favorites. Thank you T Fal
    3. Does it fry? Have to say the size is perfect. Just enough to put a decent amount of food in, but not too big. Not only does it heat the oil rather quickly, but does a fantastic job at frying. There is even a small lip inside the fryer to rest the basket on to rest so the excess oil can drip.
    4. What about cleaning. Everything outside the power cord and the heating unit is dishwasher safe. Makes clean up so easy. Simply use the oil filter, place the oil back into the container where you got it from. Once you stored the recycled oil, take all the parts of the machine put it in the dishwasher and you are all clean. No mess, no fuss, nada.
    Are there any negatives?
    1. honestly this isnt a negative, but something to just point out. There is a glass on the cover where you can "see inside" the fryer as its frying. Please realize you are frying, which causes steam. The steam will "condense" on the glass so its hard to see inside. How to solve that. Very easy, lift up the cover, lol. Again this is not a negative at all to me, it does work. But please be realistic in whats going on in the machine.
    2. Again not a negative, but it is big. So you need to have storage space. This is not an issue for the most, unless you have a very small kitchen.

Would I buy this product again? Absolutely! Would I recommend it to my family and friends. Not only would I recommend it, but would buy it for them if I had the money lol. (plus deep fryers dont make great gifts lol). This is simply the best deep fryer out there that a professional kitchen would use. Everything from top to bottom is simply fantastic. It truly is a professional chef quality item.

T-Fal, you now have a customer for life. I would like to thank you for making such a high end product that often companies don’t hear positives from its customers. So if anyone from this company is reading my review, Thank You! This is a well made product that was built to last. Job well done T-Fal, WELL DONE
