This multipurpose desk works very well for me. The only issue I have with it is the drawers do not extend open far enough, which makes it difficult to reach items in back of drawers.

Got this for my home office and am very pleased with the purchase. Installation is a bit time consuming, but simple, nonetheless. It seems sturdy and the Salt Oak finish is quite nice. I would suggest having an extra set of hands if you want to move the desk after assembly just to ensure you don’t damage anything. Mine is on a hardwood floor and I added felt pads to the bottom so it simply slid into place. However, if on a carpet, trying to push or slide it could cause damage. Although relatively sturdy when assembled, it is still manufactured/pressed wood so with enough stress I’m sure pieces would break or screws would rip out. Keeping that in mind, I would still rate this at 5 stars as it is reasonably priced, looks great and is simple to assemble with just a phillips head screwdriver and hammer. Although you may be tempted due to all the screws involved in the installation, do NOT use a drill or cordless screwdriver to put this together. You would most likely strip out the holes and end up compromising the assembly. Just take your time and do it by hand, making the screws snug but not too tight. It will end up being a great forearm workout if nothing else! The directions state that if you order the matching hutch it has to be assembled first as I believe it gets attached before you complete the assembly of the desk. I did order the hutch but it was scheduled to arrive more than a week after the desk did so I just assembled the desk and will use brackets and screws (after drilling pilot holes, of course) to attach it later. The shipment came in two boxes, each nicely packaged, and all the parts were included with no damage whatsoever. Very happy with this purchase.

The desk is very nice but not easy to assemble if you normally don’t assemble furniture, I would hire a tasker to do it or set aside many hours. The pieces of wood are heavy as well. There were two large and heavy boxes that were delivered to me so if you live upstairs, I recommend purchasing the additional service from Amazon to place the boxes in your residence. Because if you don’t have any help or can’t lift heavy things, climbing upstairs with these boxes will be difficult. Low score is for the scratches that were all over the wood that we noticed until after we unboxed everything. It was not worth putting everything back in and having to try to return or risk getting another desk with scratches. Wish the manufacturer would not do this to the customers.

I love my new desk. It was actually pretty easy to assemble (if you have two people), just takes a really long time as their are sooo many pieces. The finished product is wonderful though and is exactly what I was looking for. It looks great, is very sturdy. Drawers and cabinet all work as intended. I needed room for my two large monitors for my home computer and also room for my laptop and second screen for it, for work. I have plenty of room for all and still tons of room for all of my work and school papers and books. The keyboard tray is perfect as well. The only two things I would complain about is 1. the edges are a bit sharp and if tend to lean your forearms/wrist on the desk or keyboard tray it is rather painful after a bit. 2. The edges seem to lose color pretty quick, which tells me the desk may not look great long term.
Wanted to update this since I have had it awhile. The desk is holding up really well. I bought a large pad to put over the areas that I lean my arms on and has fixed the issue with the sharp edges. Only issue is that the edges and areas that you use frequently tends to lose its color rather easily. But easy fix with a wood color marker. Outside of this I have absolutely no complaints at all. I will be using this desk for many years.

I am beyond thrilled with my purchase! I bought it for a home office since I work from home and I wanted to review this to go over some of the things I read in the comments when deciding back and forth if I should purchase it. 1. The color is fantastic! It’s more like a barn wood color a gray weathered type look, which is exactly what I was looking for even though the picture makes it look slightly tan I don’t notice any tan with the naked eye. 2. Very sturdy desk. The hinges on the door are very sturdy and you can adjust pretty much everything if it’s off a little bit. Like the drawers were rubbing when we first put them in and you can adjust them really easily until they just slide in and out with no problems. 3. Yes the assembly was very time consuming for the 2 of us I would estimate roughly 4 hours and. I would recommend 2 people at least for the end part for attaching the two sides together. If you have common sense you and you can read you can definitely put this table together, you just have to be patient because there is a lot of steps. The instruction booklet is silly too like tells you to go refresh your drink and it’s almost time to celebrate with a nap. I found those good little touches from the company. In the desk industry $300 for a desk really isn’t that expensive, I was wanting something that made me feel important and put together and for only $300 vs like $1500 this is a great desk! I only have 2 issues with the whole desk the first is the keyboard tray doesn’t have a whole lot of clearance between the bottom of the desk and the keyboard tray. If you have your mouse on the tray too it’s a little difficult to use the scroll on the mouse. And the second thing is the cardboard part that covers the back of the drawers and door cubbies only has a big pop out of the center it’s hard to explain but it does have a part of the cardboard you can just pop out like a circle for cords to come into. I ended up just leaving the whole thing off the one side that has my tower in it since its up against the wall any how and I would have had to pop out almost the entire backing except for like 2 inches all around the sides to get cords in and out. Wasn’t worth it to me. But I definitely recommend it I’m going to buy a matching shelf for sure love it!

I needed/wanted a desk that afforded space, storage, and was going to look nice in my home office. Placement of this desk was the challenge over any issues with assembly or wait, only because once you place it you need to leave it – weight and overall moving could damage the item! So once that was determined, then it took us about 3 hours or so to put the desk together – me reading the instruction, hubs doing the labor (and he’s a perfectionist, hence the extra time!). This is definitely a two person job if for nothing else than reading and providing the parts. Once assembled, moved into place (we moved each piece separately with final assembly where it would live)…EUREKA! There is a slight issue with the back piece “cover” just in that it is a bit thinker than cardboard but requires nails to attach and these are silver head nails rather than black or brown to match, but marker helped that! For the drawers, this was our most challenging part, you HAVE to assemble, adjust, test and repeat – it’s just the best way to make the drawers fit into the rails and create as little gap between as possible. There seems that this could be an easier design, but it wasn’t too hard to figure out. The other cabinet is large with one shelf – could be another option for a second shelf if not storing a CPU in there but that’s preference. Once assembled, 3 monitors, laptop, tablet, and iPad live (mostly full time) on the desk top along with 2 reading lamps, keyboard (one is in the shelf too), and some working clutter – AND there is still work space!

Pre-TLDR; The desk is very sturdy, is easy to assemble with one person, instructions are crystal clear and Cymax customer service went above and beyond to make sure my order arrived safely.
The details:
Shipping: Cymax shipped my desk very quickly… almost TOO quickly as I realized that the arrival date was potentially going to arrive while we were out of town. I contacted Cymax customer support and requested a cancellation. The customer support representative told me that they submitted a request, but the order had already been shipped. Instead, they put in a request to re-route the order back to their warehouse, which did work. Cymax went out of their way (at no charge to me) to make sure the order didn’t arrive while we were gone even though the issue was 100% my fault. We put in a replacement order after we got back home.
Desk quality: It’s a very sturdy desk and came free of defects and damage. For those not considering putting this desk against a wall, the desk IS finished on both sides although it should be noted that the backs for the computer tower cabinet and the drawer backs are made of that nail-on thick cardboard material you typically see on IKEA furniture (though you’d have to look really closely to notice). All moving parts worked as expected with no problems. Yes, it is engineered wood, but for the price you get a nice looking, sturdy desk.
Assembly: Took me about 3 hours to put together alone (desk only), which included a pre-flight check to make sure all pieces were there. I cannot stress enough that the instructions for this desk are second to none. Every step of assembly includes crystal clear notations such as “Make sure holes are on this side”. There was never a time in the assembly that I felt like I was guessing and I made it through the entire assembly process without making a mistake.

I bought this desk because I have owned Sauder furniture in the past that really help up well through several moves. The price was right, it looked like it would hold multiple monitors, the desk gave me a choice of layout (which side was drawers and which side is the PC cabinet, or one of three places to mount the keyboard tray). and it looked nice.
When it arrived (in two heavy boxes) I was excited to see it in person. It looks beautiful, the pictures don’t do it justice. However the “veneer” seems about as thick as wallpaper, so we will see how well it holds up. After six weeks of full time use (8-10 hrs/day) it seems fine.
The desk was easy to put together and the instruction were well written. If you take your time and make sure you study the pieces and how they fit closely before actually attaching them, you will be fine. It took about 3.25 hours to assemble by myself. This thing is SOLID and well-engineered. As others have mentioned, the drawer guides don’t allow the drawers to extend completely so there is about 1/3 of the back of the drawer that remains under the desktop after opened all the way, but I have not found it to be too big of an issue. I have a couple 23″ monitors, a 17″ laptop in dock with an extra 27″ monitor that I use daily and they all fit nicely. The keyboard drawer is sturdy. The only issue I have is that my PC is too large for the Cabinet and the cabinet door hits the front of the PC. This is obviously my fault as the dimensions are clearly stated in the listing.
Only disappointment was with how the keyboard is attached, they use some weird connectors that take a little bit of finesse to get to work properly when they could have just thrown in a few more cam locks and screws.
