    Description

Pedialyte Sport has a scientifically designed balance of electrolytes and sugar, with 3x the electrolytes and ¼ the sugar of the leading sports drinks.* It’s formulated for athletes to provide fast hydration and muscle support before, during, and after exercise. And it has 5 key electrolytes that help replace what is lost in sweat during intense workouts: sodium (to avoid muscle cramping), chloride (for fluid balance), potassium (for muscle and nerve function), magnesium (for muscle health), and phosphate (for muscle repair). From the hydration brand that has been used by professional sports teams for decades, Pedialyte Sport is available in ready-to-drink liters and convenient powder packs that go anywhere you do. It comes in 2 great flavors: Fruit Punch and Lemon Lime. * Pedialyte Sport products have 1380mg sodium and no more than 14g sugar per liter; leading sports drinks have ≈460mg sodium and ≈58g sugar per liter.

      My 3 Cents

I like keeping Pedialyte around the house and until now I have stored the bottled kind, but honestly it takes up so much space that I’ve always questioned myself every time I buy it. This is great because you can have lots at hand without the space of the bottles, plus you don’t have as much plastic waste.

I’ve always considered Pedialyte for replenishing fluids when one of my family members were sick, especially the kids, but never considered it as a competitor to sports drink support drinks. This drink is nice in that it can be used for either.

What I like about this drink:
      – The little rip open single serve packets are awesome. Easy to store, easy to open into a glass or into a water bottle. Easy to stow one in my purse without fear of it coming open. (That would be a catastrophe due to the red dye in this, if it did become punctured).
      – This drink is sweet and the fruit punch flavor tastes really good. I know that my family will drink it if they need to, without a fight.
      – Even though it tastes sweet, it has way less sugar than other sports drinks. Which is good. I have never been a soda drinker, but at one point I had to wean myself off of sports drinks because I was addicted.
      – This has a lot of electrolytes (elements like Potassium, Sodium, Chloride, Magnesium, and Phosphate) to help your body recover.

What I don’t like as much:
      – This has Sucralose in it. I am not a fan, but honestly in this product, you can barely taste it. No strong aftertaste of it either, so I am making peace with it in this instance.
      – The fruit punch is very strong. Don’t think of adding it to a 16oz glass instead of a
      – I won’ be using this everyday as an after-workout recovery drink. You need to have a good balance of electrolytes, so it’s ok to take if you’ve lost a lot, either through sickness or through an extra strenuous working. But just as having too few electrolytes can make your body “off”, so can too many electrolytes. Hyperkalemia (too much potassium) can affect your kidneys and cause irregular heartbeats and nausea. Hypernatermia (too much sodium) can cause vomiting, dizziness, and diarrhea.
      – For the most part this all dissolves into a homogenous drink. However, when I get down to the very end of the glass, there is a distinct salty taste from the added sodium,
      – I don’t know why this has to have red dye #40 in it. This is a syntethic color additive made from petroleum (yep). It is banned in Europe due to possible connections to child hyperactivity but the US has found no link after reviews and it remains acceptable to use. For my purposes, my kids will only drink this if they’re sick so they’re not going to be exposed much, but I generally prefer a clear liquid than BRIGHT ones for my family.

Overall, I think this is a great idea to have these around for when we need them, and I’m glad that they don’t taste terrible for when my family does need to hydrate and replenish electrolytes.

LOVE the product. Play a lot of golf and drink it during the round and am noticeably more altert and my muscles recover very well the next day. I actually like more water than they suggest…..like double the water. So I take the packet and put it in one of those 33 oz bottles that the Pedialyte Sport comes in and then fill it with filtered water. I then put ice in a yeti and drink the entire 33 ounces over the course of a round. PERFECT.

I did a lot of research on which drinks or powder mixes supplied the most hydration. Reliable medical sources list Sodium, Chloride, Potassium, Magnesium, and Phosphate as key electrolytes for preventing dehydration. The Pedialyte Sport (only the Sport version) bottled drink and/or powder was the only powder that supplied all 5 of those electrolytes and in high amounts. Gatorade, Liquid IV, LMNT, nuun, DripDrop, Propel, Emergen-C and others did not come close. And the taste is wonderful.

Additional comment: I had started ordering Pedialyte Sport powder about a year ago because I was severely dehydrated and my surgeon could not draw blood. I was told that if I couldn’t hydrate myself (and I most likely wouldn’t be able to) I would need to be hospitalized again with IV fluids. I started using the Pedialyte daily mixed in with Gatorade zero and last month they were able to get all the blood they wanted. So, THIS WORKS!!!

The product is awesome, the best flavor mix we have tried. I did however have problems with my order. I got 1 pack 3 times before we just decided they weren’t going to send the 4 pack. The label on each pack says it’s a pack of 24. (It’s only 6 per pack) I won’t order through Amazon again but will definitely purchase from local stores or the product site directly.

I don’t know why people complain, you mix it well and it’s like the bottle kind. Same with the people complaining about the salt taste, use the amount of water your supposed to! I got all 24 packets as well so I give this 5 stars. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I work in triple digit weather throughout the summer months and I sweat a lot. So hydration is very important for me I consume lots of water but the electrolytes really help out a lot to keep hydrated. This product is very difficult to find in stores locally during the summertime, because supply and demand numbers are too far apart. So it is very nice to be able to order it here in bulk and receive it in a timely manor.

My husband does asphalt work and he has been to the hospital 3 different times for dehydration that caused acute kidney failure. He drinks water and gatorade all day but with the heat outside and the heat of the asphalt it just wasn’t replenishing enough. I got the Pedialyte Sport for him to try and he loves them. He said they don’t give him indigestion like the gatorade and he has had no more trips to the hospital. He would recommend them to anyone who works out in the heat. They are just a little pricy for my taste but he says its worth it.

Overall these are a great purchase you make them as needed, no worry about trying to drink the whole pre-made within 48 hours as recommended. Just open a 16 OZ bottle of water take a small sip add a packet of this and shake. So you get 24 of these packets compared to 4 of the pre-made bottles which would only equal 8 of these packets.
