The Gold Standard For An Indoor Grill
I have 2 Cosori Airfryers, an Instant Pot and have tried other similar appliances. This one is the real deal but before I go on, make sure if you are planning on buying a Ninja Grill Foodi that you do your research first as there is more than one option. Spend time watching YouTube videos.So, first of all No Smoke! If you are grilling inside, read the directions and follow them because that’s the key. I use 100% Choice Avocado Oil spray or brush some from the bottled type which has a high smoke point. Certain oils should not be applied.Second, controls are easy to use and offer every option one would need. I have not air fried yet, as I have had no need to, but grilling was great. It helps to rearrange food at the flip point if you are filling the grate but that’s to be expected.Third the filter is an amazing feature which traps much of the spatter making clean up much easier than an air fryer for things like hamburgers. You can put the filter directly into the dishwasher however I soak mine in hot water with a little soap when it is very dirty and has bits of food trapped. I then take the brush they included with the grill and scrub it down before I put I in the dishwasher.Fourth, the griddle/pans are ceramic coated so no Teflon. Rinsing off first in sink and then soaking the griddle in the pan, filled with hot water & soap, makes cleaning them easy. I don’t use the brush they provided just a Dobbie pad and toothbrush on those parts.Fifth, the preheat gets the grate sizzling hot but after cooking the unit cools down relatively quickly as long as you leave the lid open.Sixth, the included thermometer really shouldn’t be trusted however, once you use it awhile, you get to figure out what it’s inaccuracy factor is and it helps one not overcook food.This unit requires a lot of space so measuring the area you want to put it in is paramount. We ended up having to modify a kitchen cart as when opening the lid it must rest on a solid surface behind the main body.I do not hesitate to recommend this grill to anyone who has the space for it. Beginner cooks or advanced cooks will find it a useful and fun appliance to use. Will it replace an outdoor grill? For die hard outdoor grill devotees … of course not … well maybe in those cold months in the northeast. However, if that’s not you and you want to grill (or air fry) rather than using the broiler in your oven and smoking up the house … well heck yeah this is for you. Just remember you are still going to smell that food cooking throughout your house so if you have a exhaust fan nearby you can use that to tame that somewhat.

A very superior air fryer and grill from Ninja!
We owned the 301 series Ninja grill previously and liked it. But this came out as a second generation model and we decided to replace our old grill. Wow! This is a superior product. It’s bigger on the inside, the grates and grill pans are coated with a much better non-stick materiel and this the grill is easier to use. I’ve recommended this grill to many friends! The only downside is that the temperature probe does not seem to be very accurate. However, overall we love this grill/air fryer and would purchase again!

Makes side dishes and certain meals easy and fast
This grill is so far one of the best purchases I’ve ever made for kitchen use. In the hands of a relatively experienced home cook (me) it’s a super tool. First of all, it makes side dishes extremely easy and fast to prepare. Most frozen casual bagged finger foods such as french fries, egg rolls, pizza rolls, chicken nuggets, et al come out of the air fry function both much faster and much more crisp than you can achieve in the oven even using wire racks. Self made side dishes such as roasted vegetables and potatoes likewise cook faster than any other appliance and with better color and crisper results. Grilling is a mixed bag. Generally, proteins such as burgers or whitefish filets finish with great marking and color fast, but you need to check the doneness diligently. Hot dogs and sausages are easy and superb on this grill. I was skeptical of the Foodi considering it excessively over engineered, but the main benefit it has over other methods is that all cooking or grilling is enclosed, so spattering of even messy foods is non existent. It also grills consistently and cleanly so I can get better results of small tender items such as fish than I can with a gas grill outdoors. I love that the control panel pretty much lets you do anything. Bypass preheating and changing time or temperature on the fly are all standard. You open the cover anytime you like to check on doneness. I will ding the Foodi on easy of cleanup of the appliance itself. The screen pops out for cleaning, but you’re on your own to clean the dried grease that builds up on the underside of the top lid. That’s the downside of the shielding of the rest of the kitchen from spatters. I consult Youtube videos to find out best ways to clean this thing. Overall, if you know cooking already, this grill can pretty much do anything in terms of dry heat cooking.

The Ninja grill is fantastic!!!!!!
This Ninja grill is my new favorite appliance. I love cooking with this, but since it arrived I have yet to use an oven or the BBQ grill. True, this grill is different from an outdoor gas grill, but I think this is great for indoor use! Grilled meat tastes fantastic, air-fried veggies are so good, and french fries are the best. This grill is used for breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner. Oh and the mozzarella sticks and stuffed mushrooms. Even air frying bacon. The chicken is so flavorful. The list just goes on and on. I also love how I have the option to preheat or not. I always preheat for grilling steaks or hamburgers, but sometimes I do not want to wait on the preheat. You get the grill, you also get a grill plate and an air fry basket. This has many options that I have not tried yet. It feels solid, it’s not too large but it’s not small. I have one of those wooden folding carts where it sits. I use it so much, I do not plan on moving it. If you want to use this on your counter, I suggest one of those heat mats to go under it. I would write a longer review but I just heard the beep, my stuffed mushrooms are ready. Love, Love, Love this kitchen gadget.

Best indoor grill ever!
We are absolutely in love with our grill!!! Steaks from frozen to done in 25 minutes and so flavorful!!! Plus, a whole chicken in 30 minutes! The chicken is so juicy and the skin is so brown! The therometer cooks to the perfect temperature you want it cooked to, whether it is medium, rare or well done. It does pretty much anything an indoor grill could possibly do, from air fry to dehydrating and 4 other functions as well! We use it 4 nights out of 7! Also, it is so easy to use! I can not say enough great things about this product!!!

Excellent indoor grill with great accuracy!
I bought this DG551 Ninja XL grill 2nd generation as it was on sale. I like Ninja products as they are really well designed and of high quality.This comes with a meat thermometer that works with the grill and will let you automatically setup cooking times and temperature based on how you want your steaks done.I tried some 1.5 to 2 inch filet minion steaks. I wanted it done medium rare. There are 2 settings for medium rare – 3 or 4. The manuals recommended setting thicker steaks to the lower medium rare setting (3).I brushed the steaks with rice oil that has a smoke point of 480°F. I then sprinkled salt and pepper and some fresh rosemary twigs from my garden.I set the grill for medium rare at 3 and switched it on. As soon as pre heating was done, the grill squawked and the LCD indicated “put your food in”.I had one of the steaks pierced with the meat thermometer and as soon as I placed the steaks on the grill and closed it, the grill automatically started.It displayed the temperature of the steak and the temperature of the grill. There’s also a display showing rare, then medium rare as grilling progressed. It also squawked to let me know when to flip the steaks, with display “flip”.When it’s done, it says “remove food” and the resting count down begins.This is all so convenient, there is no guessing!Of course, the question remains, how were the steaks?I was amazed when I cut into the steaks, they were perfectly medium rare throughout the cross section!There was also no smoke generated in the process. So, I would recommend using a high smoke point oil, like the rice oil that I tried.Wow!Of course it takes all the fun out of conventional grilling where you have to attend to it and you don’t always get it the way you want it.Needless to say this grill comes highly recommended. Just perfect!

False advertisement!
*Beware* Does not come with crisping basket shown. The much cheaper version that comes with it does not fit correctly and slides around and scratches the bottom pan. If the basket is not positioned perfectly it hits the top when closing lid.

I love this grill, all my family uses it too! I think the manual is off a bit, bc it doesn’t take very long to cook anything in it, which is actually nice bc it’s fast. It makes excellent burgers, brautworst, makes perfect crispy chicken tenders, chicken, etc. The size is a decent size too! I can make 4 burgers in there easily. 😋 I’ve also made tacos, chicken salad, chicken for a chineese entrée.I do however have a few complaints, so hopefully they can improve the product.1.) You cant fit all the pieces it comes with inside it! Idk why they couldn’t make it so that all the pieces fit inside it for easy storage. The lid simply will not close with all the pieces inside it. There’s no reason all the pieces can’t fit properly inside it.2.) The grill piece is extreamly heavy & hard to wash! There’s two handles on both sides to lift it up, but they are not real handles, they are the shape of an L! Why?!! This is really dumb. You can not hold this grill properly to wash it. It’s so slippery & hard to hold to wash!! They should have at least made it a rectangle, in fact, just make a real ergonomic handle.3.) The top lid is really hard to clean. It has a filter on the inside of the top of the grill. It’s nearly impossible to clean.Other than that, it’s a nice inddor grill. Highly reccomend!!! 👍

This is one of my BEST finds on here I use it 3-4 times if not more per week. I purchased a bistro top table with 2 swivel chairs and when I want to use it I just pick it up and put it out on the patio table, plug it in and wallah…I have no odor from any cooking in my house. It has never smoked on my I use either avocado oil or canola oil, but the exhaust from any type of cooking smells the house up unless it’s baked goods I am not a fan of the smell after. So, told my hubs that if I could find a table small but high I would keep so I could just pop out on the patio, grill up what I need and then bring it back in. It’s not heavy, it cleans up like a dream. I remove the screen after I cook or grill anything, pop it in a bowl of dawn dish soap and water in the sink let it soak while I eat. I remove the pans I use and place those in my sink with Soap and water as well and it literally has such a nice coating on the baking and grilling surfaces it doesn’t take a lot of time at all to clean, dry and put back together. Some have said to put it in the dishwasher, but to me that’s an extreme waste of electric and water than just hand clean. I got this not only to grill but to save on electricity from the oven. I am in heaven with this thing!!!

Awesome
Day before Christmas Eve I finally had enough of my OLD air fryer, it quit frying mid cook twice. I let my kid open up Ninja air fryer XL. To finish his lunch ( chicken strips ) it cooked them to perfection! The next day Christmas eve I didn’t have room in oven to cook a whole squash an biscuits set both items to bake at their recommended temp an time both times worked out great! For holiday’s this is a life saver!!

I’ve been looking for an indoor grill as we’re not allowed gas grills at our condo. I love steak, but don’t love the hissy fit my Nest smoke alarm has when I try to cook it in an iron skillet. It is extremely sensitive, so even the smallest amount of smoke will set it off repeatedly and if it’s too much smoke, it won’t even allow us to silence it! It turns into a major ordeal. While the ninja grill isn’t completely smoke free when we cooked a couple of ribeyes, it’s minor enough that we were able to silence the Nest and continue cooking – winner!I’ve read some reviews about the Ninja thermometers being inaccurate and either I got lucky or they’ve fixed the issues. Everything I’ve cooked so far has come out perfect! I love the ease of setting it and almost forgetting. Just listen for the beep to flip and remove the food when it beeps again. It even tracks the rest period. I’ve cooked medium rare salmon and steak, medium pork tenderloin, medium well burgers. and grilled veggies with great success (it only smoked with the steak). The pork tenderloin recipe in the included book is delicious!It’s also easy to clean and looks sharp on the counter. My new favorite kitchen appliance! Way to go Ninja!

Perfect for Party of one
Cooking for one person, is painful. I live in the middle of no where, so delivery, and take out are not options. This Ninja works great for literally everything. Fish, steaks, fries, toasting bread, making dog treats…it’s yet to fail me. It isn’t the easiest to keep clean, but I’ve found that cleaning it while it’s still warm or spraying some dish soap on the basket, or grill and letting it soak in hot water works best. Bought one for my daughter and my bestie!

The most used appliance in my kitchen!
I use my Ninja Foodi indoor 5 in 1 more than I do any other appliance in my kitchen. The Ninja Foodi is easy to use and the plug-in thermometer has made sure I no longer over (or under) cook any meat. I had an air fryer in the past, but it made no sense to leave it out on the counter because I didn’t use it enough. But, the Ninja Foodi stays right there on the counter right next to my stove. I even use it more than my microwave, using the air crisp feature to heat food up (and it tastes better too).The only downside is cleaning can be bit difficult. The inserts are super easy to clean, but the inside of the lid takes some elbow grease. Still, I wouldn’t give up my Ninja Foodi for ANYTHING!

I use this a lot we have the older one too that has the pressure cooker, and liked it so much we wanted this one too.. It is larger and we use it at least a few times a week. easy to clean and cooks about anything you want. Love it having the thermometer. That has helped too.

Greatest purchase Ever
I spent 3 months researching all the different versions of air fryer grills , air fryer instapot , air fryer toaster , air fryer convection. I finally choose based on my number one goal – indoor grilling.This unit is used every single day in my house – nothing grills food like this indoors – not even close. I am making PERFECTLY cooked steak , fish , chicken. I have always over cooked my meats in fear … but this does all the work. The thermometer is more than a thermometer – it is your personal chef ! It tells you exactly what to do and when to do it to get the food the EXACT way you like it.Air Fry feature is excellent – it is so efficient that I have to cut the time by at least 40 % or it will be over done.I literally do everything in this machine. I amMoving in to dehydrate and other features next . After a month of use on Air Fry and Grill – nothing beats this ninja.

This grill is amazing!
The previous version of this grill was great an this is even better. I haven’t used my outdoor grill since I got this. It grills meat quickly and evenly. Produces a quick seer to lock in juices and flavor. Great for all meat, but particularly blackened chicken and salmon. Large Chicken breasts in 10 minutes and salmon in 7 minutes. The other cooking modes are all great as well. It cooks at very high temps, but the outside stays cool all around. Well engineered.My only complaint is that it takes awhile to get it pre-heated.

Great for apartments
Love this indoor girl, got the recommendation from a family member after talking about my lack of skill with an actual BBQ. This thing cooks perfectly and as a bonus allows me to grill at my apartment where grills are not allowed on the balconies. Make sure to follow the instructions and it will go great.

Love it!! Great air fryer – follow directions about oil types and preheating = no smoke trouble!Cooks faster than recipes say.Happy with grill feature.Everything goes in dishwasher but again if preheat/proper oil there’s very little mess anyway. Only smell the food, not smoke.Only problem is a bit tricky to reattach the splatter shield.This was an upgrade from my older ninja foodi and I love it!

Did What it Claimed.
Overall I’m impressed with the Ninja Foodi. The temperature probe does an awesome job. I cooked a 1″ pork steak that I bought from Publix (last one I get from there). I set the Temperature probe to 150. When it said to turn I added sliced onions to the grill. It came out almost perfect. The onions were perfect. It looked good and was very juicy. I let it sit on a plate so it could finish cooking. The Ninja did an outstanding job. I did miss the grill charcoal flavor. All in all I would rate it 8.5 out of 10.P.S. I do wish I had coated the meat with a light coat on oil. It would have helped in the browning.

Makes cooking fun with a variety of methods
Was recommended by a friend who loves their Foodi Grill. Easy to unpack and use. Quick start guide covers the basics and there is much support/recipes/tricks on YouTube. Has a base plate, grill plate and air fryer pan. One design flaw IMHO is that they all don’t fit in each other so you always have a plate left “outside.” It would have been easy to change air fryer pan shape to fit inside, on top of the grill plate. It does work as advertised and cooks many things very well: grilled steal, air fryer fries, and even baked cakes! While all surfaces are coated in non-stick enamel, residue can stick to the grill plate and there can be some hard to clean grease in the bottom plate. Recommended!

I got a mesh fryer basket and no cooking pot. So, it likely will air fry better, but there’s no ability to collect drippings or otherwise do any pot cooking. Ninja makes it hard to select a product when they don’t send you everything they advertise. Now I suppose I have to return it and try again or spend more money to by the cooking pot separately. I don’t know how it works because I don’t want to use it until I decide if I’m returning it.

Uneven cooking
I’ve had this grill since March 21. I’ve used it many many times. The grill plate is definitely hotter and cooks faster for all grilled items I’ve made. Burgers, bacon, (photo above is at the end of 10 minutes) after preheating 10 minutes. You can see the bacon to the right of the grill top is crisper (done). I flip my meats and use thermometer. It doesn’t cook evenly on the right side. The remainder of bacon in (The photo on the paper towel ) is after 15 minutes total time. I needed to remove the top 2 pieces after 9 minutesAny one else have this experience with uneven cooking? I thought it was beginner cooking experience on this new grill type. But, I’m pretty sure it’s an issue with the grill, not the user.

Love it
Love this ! It is really everything in one item – a grill, air fryer and more! We use it everyday multiple times a day. I think we use this more than our microwave!

Very good
Basically replaced the stove. It works really well and the smart cooking features make cooking steak a breeze. The unit is MASSIVE, so make sure you have the counter space

Cooking made easy !
Absolutely love this products, from the meat thermometer, to the presets . I’ve grilled steaks and chicken, baked salmon patties and a cake. Air fried tots and fries and made grilled cheese. This little grill does it all.

skips over certain temperatures
BEWARE… on air crisp/bake setting, the temperature is not in increments of 5 degrees.It goes from 330, 345, 350, 360, 375, 390 and 400 Fso it skips 380, 385 among other temps.At first, I thought mine was faulty so I called Ninja and they said that it’s normal. {shrugs}It cooks well and I usually use it at 375 anyways but it is very odd that they would set it up like that.Another feature I don’t like is that you can’t skip the “add food” setting. You have to open the cooker to pass “Add food”. I tend to add food then turn on the air fryer so it’s a bit of a hassle for me. Just need to get used to adding food after turning on the machine.

Efficient small appliance but very loud
Wow, sounds like an airplane taking off from the kitchen counter. The smaller Ninja air fryer we’ve used for several years is much quieter but it has that awful wire basket that I hate to clean. Anyway, I like the new Ninja and will try to ignore the loud noise it makes. This cooker calls the air fryer “air crisper” and the basket is a very strong, coated material, that is extremely easy to clean. My husband wanted this one because of the grill and we haven’t had time to use that feature but expect it will be a good experience because Ninja builds a good product.Used the grill feature last night and like it but had a terrible time removing the Splatter Shield so I could wash it. Then it was a challenge to get it fitted back in place. So, this is the only disappointment I’ve experienced with this appliance. The grill took a long time to pre-heat but now that I know about that I’ll allow more pre-heat time when timing out a meal. When not grilling, the pre-heat time is relatively short.

Fantastic machine
My condo doesn’t have outside ventilation in the kitchen, so searing and frying meats has always kicked up a lot of smoke. I had almost given up cooking until I found this grill. Like the description says, it’s virtually smoke free and I find that to be true nearly all of the time (unless the wrong kind of oil is used or the grease screen gets clogged with grease.)The timer and built in thermometer is amazing and lets you cook all types and cuts meat to a consistent doneness without worrying about overcooking or undercooking.My only critique is that, due to the design, it can be hard to clean the roof of the grill. Ideally I would like to be able to remove everything and give it a good scrub, but, at the same time, the unit seems to smoke less now than it did when I got it, so maybe all that caked on grease is doing some good? Also I don’t know if it’s just my imagination but it seems like it’s taking a bit longer to get hot than it did when I got it. I suppose that could be the reason for less smoke?

Bad Temperature Probe
Ninja DG551 cooks great, easy to clean. But the first time I tried to use the temperature probe it would notconnect to the control.

Easy clean up
Living in a condo and going down to the outside grills can be a hassle! I love the Ninja for cooking a couple steaks or burgers. With the temp controlled thermometer they come out perfect every time. Juicy and done to perfection

Well worth the purchase price. Cooks amazing and is like a second oven for kitchen. Product is not to big for counter.
