This blender doesn’t fool around. Holy moly! So much power! Makes smoothies so easy it’s crazy. Really does whip ice into snow. Super sharp blade. Love love love the way the lid fits, how the bottle snaps into the base and how ridiculously easy it is to clean, just be careful with the blade part. Did I mention it’s crazy sharp? Dishwasher safe. Worth every penny and feels so sturdy, It might be the last blender I’ll ever need! Surprisingly quiet for that much power.

I’m a healthcare professional and bought this after researching the competition (i.e., "Vita-Mix). After reading through a gazillion comments and reviews (including CR who rates the Ninja #2) I opted for the lower priced Ninja. I have used mine twice a day for the 6 weeks I have owned it, I use it for making smoothies. I blend for health, I have a morning fruit and berry smoothie and I have an afternoon veggie smoothie. Blending is a really convenient way to get in all your servings of fruit and veggies each day without removing the (very important) fiber. So far, I love my Ninja. I have had stuff made with a Vita Mix in the past, but have never done a side by side comparison, though I can think of a few differences that are meaningful for me. One, the Vita Mix generates heat. They use it as a selling feature, that you can use it to make soups, but I like my smoothies cold, so it’s not something I look for in a blender. Secondly, Vita Mix seems to win in all the comparisons with Ninja on smoothness, or thoroughness of blending. The only reason I knocked one star off the Ninja is because I have noticed that my smoothies are a bit chewier after several weeks of blender use. I attribute that to the fact that Ninja relies (apparently) on their sharp blades, which naturally dull with use-especially when blending frozen berries or ice (which both of my smoothies contain). I’ve noticed a subtle change in texture, no chunks, but definitely not a fine blend. My understanding is that Vita Mix has dull blades that work for years, they do not rely so much on sharpness as they do on speed? The other thing (in addition to heat) that you get with a Vita Mix is aeration (foam), which I do not notice with the Ninja. My smoothies are full of fruit and veggies, so they are full of fiber. If you are okay with having some noticeable fiber in your blend over time, the Ninja is a great deal at about 1/5 the cost. If that matters to you, expect that you will have it in time (I started to notice it after about 25 blends). The blender cleans very easily and is simple to use. I’ve never had to remove the top to tamp stuff down and I use 3 cups of leafy greens like kale and arugula, as well as whole carrots, celery, apples, and never have chunks. Overall it’s a great machine. I cannot rate longevity since I’ve only had it 6 weeks, but so far I’m very pleased.
Update: It’s January 2018, I owned the Ninja about 3 months and ended up getting a Vita Mix. I still stand by my original review, but there is a difference. The Ninja starts out pretty great, but then over time things do no blend as well. I drink 2 smoothies a day (one veggie, one fruit), so I use it a minimum of 2x a day. Over time I started calling my Ninja smoothies: "grainies." The blades start out very sharp, and the technology depends on that, but they dull with use and it shows in the results. The Vita Mix does not depend on blade sharpness, but power, it pummels everything to pieces (itty bitty pieces). I am amazed at the flour I can make with it. Also, the heat i mentioned is not a factor but a feature. Most things are blended in less than a minute (35 seconds often), so nothing really gets warm unless you leave it on in order to generate heat. The Ninja is a good blender, especially for the cost, but I don’t think one can fairly compare it to a Vita Mix, it’s like comparing apples and oranges.

Powerful blender which I have been using to make smoothies and in food processing to make hummus. It makes quick work of ice and frozen fruit. Easy to clean after each use and easy to operate. One important thing to know is that it is loud.

This works great and it’s powerful. It blends really well and the pulse feature is really handy. It’s really easy to wash and is well worth the price. Ninja makes good products. 😃

First let me say “Read the directions” Having said this, I love this blender. I have had so many over the years including one I ordered a couple of months ago that is now on the way to Goodwill. Big ones, little ones, personal size ones. I use one every day to make a almond milk, frozen fruit smoothie. I am 79 years old and have problems with ones that you have to fill and then turn upside down, push down to lock and then open up after … I was looking for one with the lid on the top that I could just pick up, take the lid off and drink. I bought this one because of the brand and knew that NInja makes a really good blender. I did not realize how big this one was. It worked great and made a great smoothie. However it was too big for my morning drink and decided to go back to Amazon and see if I could find a smaller one with enough power to make a good smoothie. NOW THIS IS WHERE READ THE DIRECTIONS COMMENT COMES FROM. On the base it says single serve, I kept pushing it and nothing happened. I get out the directions and finally read them. This blender comes with smaller cups!!! So now I can use the smaller cup that sits on the base and blends and then just drink! It is one that you have top turn upside down, but locking and unlocking is very easy and the lid twists off without a problem for my old hands……… so now I actually have 2 blenders, one for making larger quantity of things like salsa, shakes, etc AND ONE FOR MY MORNING SMOOTHIE. Spend the money and get this one, it is awesome and well worth it. It checks off all the box’s of what I was looking for. ENJOY!!

I love this thing! A bout of diverticulitis had me limited to what I could eat. Started making smoothies but my little blender struggled. This thing is so powerful that I am only limited by what I can’t imagine. I’m buying more fresh vegetables and frozen fruits. After 20 plus years of struggling to get my weight below 200, I did it, and still going. I put an egg, fresh garlic, salsa, and sour cream in there today for some fluffy scramble. A few seconds of blend time it was all combined.
I have some spiral cut ham so I went ahead and added 2 decent sized pieces to the 16 Oz container and put it back on the base for a few more seconds. Boy was I surprised how easily it chopped it up. I’m sure you could make baby food with this thing! Frozen bananas saved for baking that you never got around to. Took longer to peel the banana than it di to make this desert. Call me IMPRESSED.

I’d been waiting till prime day to buy some new kitchen appliances and I’m glad I did! I was so excited for this blender to show up! Totally worth it! It was so easy to put together. It blends up everything I’ve thrown in it nicely. I love how it locks in place and the lid does as well and also has a spout to pour out the contents. It is a big blender so you can make a good amount of whatever. The blades are pretty sharp so you have to be careful cleaning them. It also can get pretty loud chopping up ice for smoothies but that’s not a problem for me. I’ve made smoothies everyday since I’ve bought it. This is a quality blender!

Here is some context for this review – our 18-month-old has several food allergies, which has led us to need ingenious ways to pack nutrition into each meal. My wife (the one with this ingenuity) made several smoothie recipes our kiddo loves!

But … our old-school blender broke!

    Enter the Ninja NJ601AMZ!

This blender has helped to improve our routine of making our kiddo’s smoothies with its capacity, power, and noise level.

    – Capacity

We have no problem making seven eight-ounce smoothies with this Ninja. We can do one batch of smoothies every one to two days. This saves time for us – a big thing as young parents!

    – Power

There is loads of power under the hood of this Ninja! It can mix smoothies with hard, frozen fruit and ice with ease. There are three settings for power, but we rarely need to use the third (and highest) level.

    – Noise

We make our kiddo’s smoothies when they are in the kitchen with us or sleeping! Our little one is not troubled when we turn on the Ninja while they are in the kitchen. Also, even in our small house with just a few thin walls between the kitchen and nursery, this Ninja doesn’t wake our light sleeper. This helps when we only have time at night to make the next day’s smoothies … or if we are craving a frozen margarita when we get the kiddo down.

Overall, if you are thinking of getting a blender, this Ninja is a good “blend” of value and function!
