This is so delicious! I especially love the lemongrass flavor to it. We’ve been putting it on veggies, noodles, rice, meat….lots of options for use when the spices taste this good!

Nice flavor combination that stands out on mildly flavored foods like Shrimp, fish, and vegetables. On something with a stronger taste, like baked chicken legs, this powder is not forward enough. The heat is there, it’s plenty spicy. But, the rest of the flavors get lost.
I was disappointed to find that the holes in top are too small to shake out the powder. Only a little comes out before it clogs.
The sugar content in this is not too high, like with some other seasonings and rubs. You can cook at higher temperatures and not worry about this burning.

The recent popularity of Vietnamese and Cajun fusion makes perfect sense, and I’ll bet it’s been a long time in the works in that area of the US. These two cultures share similar influences, both with the French and with the sea. So I was very excited to try this spice blend.
The predominant flavor IMO is the Cajun, but you do get a hint of fish sauce and lemongrass/citrus. Think your favorite seafood seasoning with a little added punch.
There are some good suggestions on use here, so I won’t repeat them. Flavoring for your roasted chicken is top of my list, along with shrimp boil, but I wandered over to the McCormick website and found a slew of ideas. They have an excellent recipe section that includes many ideas that are easy to follow.
Spices are pricey these days, and this one is no exception. Maybe not the best idea to offer this in such a large container. If you aren’t doing weekly large shrimp boils for a group, this is a lifetime supply.

I will say that while I am familiar with both Vietnamese food and Cajun food, I had never tried the fusion of the two. Let me tell you, it works! I read a bit of history about the reason behind this fusion and it makes sense, though it’s not relevant for this review. Back to the seasoning…
It has that smoky, savory and salty flavor you come to expect from Cajun food. While I do smell the lemongrass in the mix, I don’t taste it much at all. For reference, I used this seasoning on simple pan-seared potatoes, carrots, onion and cauliflower. The whole house smelled wonderful. I also stirred a bit of the seasoning into mayonnaise as a dip — equally delicious!
This jar will last me forever. The flavor is mild enough that it could be added to lots of dishes — not just Cajun or Vietnamese food. As a spice lover, I was expecting a bit more in the heat department, but I have plenty of hot sauces to compensate.

4 sticks butter, 4 tbsp of this seasoning, 1 tbsp lemon pepper seasoning, 8 cloves garlic and one shallot minced and a squeeze of a half lemon. Then add cayenne to your taste and you got THE BEST Cajun seafood boil sauce and dip in the world!!!

I like the spice it’s the same as the regular spice creole Cajun flavor with the added lemongrass and other extra spices. Made some baked chicken..was really good..want to try on some shrimp and fish next

It’s no longer edible, taste super bad and gave me diarrhea… so had to throw it away.

I hope they never stop making this. The best grilled chicken wings I ever had were seasoned with this. No sauce is needed. I highly recommend.

I love having a selection of seasoning mixes to sprinkle on meats, use as rubs, or add to veggies or scrambled eggs. I can see this mix working for all those applications. The jar has an inner freshness seal to remove before using and the top allows you to sprinkle or scoop. I tasted a bit of the mix when I removed the seal and it was lightly spicy but not overpowering. I was flash searing some shrimp in a pan and would usually sprinkle on Old Bay, but used this seasoning instead. A light sprinkle perfectly flavored the shrimp – it was a little spicy, a little sweet/sour, and not too salty. I have an oven baked wing recipe where I rub about 1.5 tablespoons of spice mix into the wings before baking and I think this spice will work great for that as well as all my other applications. Even with a lot of use, this jar is going to last a long time but I never throw spices away – I just use more as they get a bit old. I just wish it wasn’t so expensive.

This seasoning is a little pricey but it’s well worth the price! I used this seasoning when I cooked a Cajun Crab boil and it was superb! It contains all the spices that you will ever need for the best Cajun dish. It does hit you with a kick of heat but it depends on how much is used at the time. It’s very flavorful and can be used on other meats and vegetables too! It’s one of my favorites!
