This is my 3rd or 4th iteration of wire strippers and so far the best. It is more expensive than previous but it really works for most of my needs. Like anything it has limitations but that is also why they work. One drawback is that you have to position the wire in the slot for the correct size which takes more time than the strippers that grip and strip any size but the problem with those is they don’t work well with some Romex especially with the clear ish outer coating on the individual wires. Also, because of the way the heads are located it is sometimes difficult to strip wires in tight spaces. I still have my other strippers since no one stripper works for all cases but these were a worthwhile addition to my tool box.

I purchased this wire stripper to strip wires in a confined space. This tool feels solid in-hand and works smoothly, firmly gripping wires and easily sliding insulation off with ease. I should have bought this years ago. Great value for the money!

My current work on landscape lighting has 12 gauge twisted pair wire running around my house, and offshoots to trees nearby. To connect the 12v lights, I want to keep the main-line continuous for best conductance and wear-proofing. This Klein tool cuts the wire and separates the insulation — in ONE MOTION — so i can wrap-connect another piece of wire to the light. I use black tape to wrap the connections. The photo shows the bare wire cuts closer together than I use. They need separation so water does not make a fault path. The quality and speed of these cuts is amazing! Of course, the Klein cutter makes good ends for customary connections very easy and perfect quality.

Using the Klein Tools 11063W Wire Cutter / Wire Stripper was a game-changer for my recent electrical project. This tool’s automatic wire stripping feature made it incredibly easy to strip wires of various gauges without damaging them. I appreciate how it handles both solid and stranded wires seamlessly.
What stood out to me was the solid build quality and how comfortable it felt in hand. It’s clear that this tool is designed to withstand heavy use, which is perfect for someone who takes on a lot of DIY tasks like me. The cutting action is smooth and precise, making clean cuts every time.
One minor issue I encountered was the spring tension—it’s a bit stiff, which could make it a little tiring after prolonged use. However, this is a small inconvenience compared to the tool’s efficiency and reliability.
For anyone looking to add a dependable wire stripper and cutter to their toolbox, this Klein Tools model is definitely worth considering.

See the reviews, and you’ll quickly understand why so many users rave about this Klein Tools wire stripper. Yes, you can strip wire using just a pocketknife and maybe a pair of pliers, but it will take a lot longer and you risk knicking the conductor or cutting strands … both are bad practice that can lead to failures. I have other, more conventional strippers, but this is the one I always keep in my Ham Radio tool bag; I may not need it very often, but when I need it I NEED IT.

I’m going to school to become an airplane mechanic and part of my training has been wiring up various electrical devices. Part of what involves is cutting and stripping wires. The Klein wire strippers are the best I’ve used.
I’ve mostly used pliers style strippers in the past and always had trouble getting the insulation off, especially with stranded wire. The insulation either wouldn’t cut all the way through or some of the strands would break off or get nicked. These make stripping the wire fast and easy. You line the wire up with the right gauge and squeeze. No stands broken or stripped and the insulation comes off cleanly every time.
I’ve had more experience cutting wire. I’ve used some really good pliers style wire cutters and some really awful ones. Again, these are some of the best I’ve used. The issue I’ve had with other cutters is that the end of the wire gets points because most cutters have a V shaped blade. The insulation stretches around the end and it can make stripping it off more difficult. It also just doesn’t look as nice as when it’s flush. These cutters have a hole you put the wire into up to 10 gauge, squeeze and you get a nice clean cut, no stretched insulation, no varying length of strands, just a flush cut that makes life so much easier.
For $30 this is a must have if you do any regular work with copper wire. The only thing I wish this had was replaceable dies for the strippers like some more expensive strippers in this style do. The smallest wire you can strip with theses is 20 gauge, which generally is fine with the work I’ll be doing with them. However, many electronics use 22 or 24 gauge wires, so it’s a bit disappointing these won’t work for those sizes. Other than that I really can’t think of anything that I find lacking with these. They’re simple, practical, easy to use, and they just work. I’ll update my review if anything comes up as I use them, but as of my writing this, they’re amazing.

First off, the build quality is impressive. These wire cutters feel sturdy and reliable, and they have no trouble handling even the toughest wires. Whether it’s copper, aluminum, or steel wire, these cutters make clean, precise cuts without any struggle.
The cutting blades are sharp and well-aligned, ensuring clean cuts without fraying or crushing the wires. This precision is crucial for maintaining reliable electrical connections, and these cutters deliver every time.
I also appreciate the ergonomic design. The handles are comfortable to grip, even during long periods of use, and the spring-loaded action makes cutting effortless. Plus, the compact size makes them easy to maneuver in tight spaces, which is a big plus for cramped wiring jobs.
These wire cutters are versatile too. They’re suitable for a variety of tasks, from electrical work to DIY projects around the house. Whether I’m cutting wire, stripping insulation, or crimping connectors, these cutters handle it all with ease.
Overall, the Klein Tools 11063W Wire Cutter has proven to be a reliable and versatile tool that gets the job done right. Whether you’re a professional tradesperson or a DIY enthusiast, these wire cutters are definitely worth considering for your toolkit.

Really helped with a wiring job I had to do. Feels solid and operates smooth and consistently. I’d buy it again.

This is my first auto stripper and it works great. Blade is machined well and closes precisely. At first I thought the little rough edges in between the notches were a flaw – they actually line the blades up as it closes.
The grip is quite wide. Fine for me but this may be a bit cumbersome for someone with small hands to operate compared to a standard wire stripper, especially repeatedly. It’s also a bit clunky to store, although the wire cutter can be used as a mounting hole to put it on a pegboard. It might also fit upside down in oval rings for vice grips.
It works extremely well with solid copper and large gauge wire. No scoring and perfect lengths, fast. I use mine for electronics projects and audio cables, so smaller stranded wires are common. Because of the way the tool is designed, it will SNAP CLOSED and FRAY the fresh copper wires you just exposed. I took one star off for this, but it’s possible to avoid: after stripping, don’t release the grip. Pull back on the wire as you slowly release. The vice part will relax enough for the wire to slide out before it snaps shut and crushes the strands.
Conclusion:
Pros – cheap, well-made, reliable. This would be ideal for small electrical jobs at home.
Cons – works better on thicker wires. Wide storage footprint. Easy to accidentally fray stranded wires.
