I bought a cheaper version of this tool, and it worked OK, but this one outshines it completely. It’s sturdy, it hits every time, it’s easily adjusted, and it only costs about 5 bucks more than the cheaper versions.
I love having this kind of wire-stripper in my toolbox, it makes household electric a little easier and quicker. It’s not a necessity, for sure, but it’s a convenient tool that I found to be worth the cost. On top of that, the different in quality between this one and the cheaper ones is definitely worth the premium.

Man am I glad I got this guy. I’ve been using the standard wire strippers with the specifically sized, sharpened holes (you know the type) for years and years and have always just thought they were a big pain. Even ones from good brands had a nasty habit of cutting into fine stranded wires so I would have to either use a bigger slot or the correct size slot, but not closed all the way to score around the insulation and then tear it the rest of the way off. What a pain.
This one is 100 times easier. As long as you stay within its capacity it has absolutely no problem stripping fine stranded or solid core wire. And there’s not really any adjustments or care needed with regard to gauge, as long as you are under a certain size. There is a tension knob that I think is supposed to fine tune it to certain gauges, but I never bother. It’s not intuitive at all as to what it even does. Anything below 10 awg strips easily (except for some multi-conductor wires) and 10 is alright too sometimes, though the thicker the wire the harder it is to get a specific amount of insulation off.
There’s also the little depth stop thing that really helps keep the amount of insulation removed over a number of wires the same, which is super nice. It itself is kind of a pain to adjust though. The locking screw for it seems really inconsistent as to how much you need to loosen before it’ll move.
Overall though, for pretty much any wire smaller than 10awg (and occasionally 10awg) and single conductor (and sometimes multiple), this is a completely brilliant stripper and you totally need one.

I’m a retired electronic service technician that has stripped probably over 30,000 wires. I did mostly alarm systems and cameras. I still mess with alarms and cameras on the side. I purchased this stripper after I was retired. I can’t believe it is so perfect. Exact length every time, easy on the hands and easy to adjust for different cables.

After using the top of the line wire cutter from WalMart, and then Lowe’s, this one is far and away the best and worth the $. It is sharp, cuts cleanly and perfectly, and is a great tool to have. Highly recommend.

I have been replacing lots of old fluorescent tubes in my church with LED tubes. These require minor wiring changes. The existing fixtures were installed over perhaps 40 years, and all of them have different internal wiring including mixtures of stranded and solid wires. I have been changing the wiring in place, rather than taking down the fixtures, rewiring and rehanging, so this involves manipulating the wires from awkward positions on a ladder.
These have made stripping the various wires easy and do not require me to change positions of the wire stripper for the different wires.
Along with using Wago connectors instead of wire nuts, this allowed me to speed through each installation quickly and with confidence that the wiring is well done and safe.

Great tool works very well and is worth the purchase as well as purchasing again.
I ended up accidently picking up my coworkers on one of our road trips and now I have his that he has used over a year and it still works very well. (lucky co-worker having a new pair).
The only thing I have to complain about is the little device that measures the wires. It’s often in the way.
I work in tight quarters and much of the time using the stripper upside down where as that little added “thing” for lack of a better word, just closes up and It becomes a bit more difficult to do a poke and wrap because it’s blocking the stripping of a wire in the middle of the run.
I can screw it down and keep it out of the way but I use the strippers all day long and it eventually loosens up and falls again. It’s very minor so it’s not much to complain about… I would still purchase them again and I still use them often.
I am an advocate for Klein tools and most of my stuff is Klein. I have use much of these tools for years and years without issue and when I need something important I run to Klein.
