Good but can’t remove plates to clean ’em, can’t do waffles
This is for the Hamilton Beach Panini Press, 25410.This does a good job pressing and heating a Panini sandwich. It’s large enough for 2 sandwiches. It stores nicely. Now on to the buts…But it doesn’t let you remove the plates (so you have to clean them while attached to the device without getting it wet, a real nuisance). But you cannot make waffles because of course there is only one set of press-plates.But it has no temperature control. It has no on/off switch — plug it in and it’s on, unplug it and it’s off.The pressing (it’s a Panini press after all) is manual. The top isn’t heavy enough to do the pressing so you will be pushing down on the sandwiches yourself, if you want them pressed. If the plates were removable (for cleaning) and if it had waffle plates, then this would be worth buying, in my opinion.

Description is misleading
I bought this specifically because it indicates it can be stored sitting up. It can not. The cord between the top and bottom is very stiff and sticks out so far that it must be stored lying down. I would not have purchased this if I had known that was the case.

This works great!
I bought smaller one for me and this one for my parents so have the ability for 2 sandwiches at once is great. My mom is a selective eater and being able to get a robust flavor with very little extra calories (i.e. oil, mayo, etc) works quite well for her.

Makes sandwich items with out making the damp
We love this little gem. We have cooked steaks, hamburgers (frozen in just 5 mins), Paninis, grilled cheese, next will be hotdogs and sausages 😉 Would recommend this to any one. Is a pleasure to have in our kitchen. Is pretty simple to clean up. Use just a wet washrag and paper towels.

Plates are not removable
This is more like a 3.75 stars. It works really well as a panini maker. I have also grilled steaks on it but the biggest issue is that you can remove the plates to clean the appliance and it is just messy to clean and it takes quite a bit of time. Otherwise if you have the time to clean it. It works well.

It is okay but could get hotter.
I bought this to make Panini sandwiches. I also like to make grilled cheese sandwiches. I would’ve given it more stars, but it seems that it does not get hot enough for taste. I have used it several times and it seems to take a longer time to get those brown crispy grill marks. If you’re looking to make sandwiches faster than I would recommend a stove top pan. However, this product is worth the money if you just want to quickly throw a sandwich together and you’re not worried too much about those crispy brown marks, as it takes a while to . It’s fairly easy to clean with a nonstick finish and the price is fair. I hope they make the newer versions with hotter temperatures.

Excellent for Panini / Sandwiches
I like it. For a lunch I can make a Panini, Ham with cheese Sandwich in short time. The grill is easy to clean and needs not a lot of space. I can stow i away in the cabinet.

How to make paninis

Some good, some improvement needed
I received this product about three weeks ago, and am using it almost every day. It does make superb paninis, but there are a few issues:1. The electric cord is very short. It could use at least another six inches.2. While the grill is relatively easy to clean, it would be better if one could actually remove the grilling plates and run them under water.3. The lock that is supposed to keep the press closed for upright storage is not secure, and tends to slide down opening the the grill. However for a not too expensive item, I am so far reasonably satisfied with how it works.

Good but not too durable
The appliance is great and does what it’s supposed to do. However with frequent (almost daily) use you can expect that the surface will start pulling off after a year or two.

Makes paninis and also incredible flat toast
This unit has one primary function, and it’s to cook things from both sides with grill marks. It has no timer or temperature settings. You can’t even turn it on or off. Also the locking mechanism to keep it closed while stored is pretty unimpressive. But it makes paninis. It can grill anything you’d like to, including toast, which is shockingly good in the unit. The plates don’t come off for a full clean, but it’s still not terribly hard to wipe down, and the drip tray is easily washed. Use it more than I expected.

Makes sandwiches better. No temp control or on/off switch but for the price, well worth it. Once plugged in, may take a couple of minutes to heat up then you’re good to go.

So glad we bought this!
Absolutely LOVE this panini press. It’s big enough for two large sandwiches and cleans up easily. We’ve had it for a while and it’s still working great for the price. We didn’t know if a cheaper brand would make a good meal, but this works great for the price!

Better than Griddler
We have bought and gone through three Cuisinart Griddlers over the years; in all three the top plate quit working. I didn’t want to invest as much money in another failing Griddler This unit got excellent reviews and although removing plates to clean in the dishwasher is always appealing, I figured that might be why the Griddler failed. I followed the suggestions of other users and put damp paper towels between plates after using, and clean up was a breeze. Initially, I was thrown off by the red and green lights coming on at the same time, but now, I just turn it on and let it heat up a while, and cook. It does heat quickly and there isn’t a temp control, but so far, so good. Reubens, grilled cheese, and grilled meat and cheese sandwiches have been delicious. Hamburgers were especially good: quick cook and done all the way through. Simple to use, does a good job, and not expensive!

Best purchase of the year
My husband bought this and it’s our new favorite tool in the kitchen. It’s super easy to heat up and cook almost anything to be perfectly crisp and yummy. To clean I only wipe it with a paper towel and it’s good as new. Highly recommend to anyone regardless of cooking experience! Also, I discovered that cooking tofu here makes it crispy and easier to clean up than frying in a pan.

Ease of use
Really easy to use, creating amazing panini in less than a minute. Only thing is that it doesn’t have the power button so you need to pull the plug directly from the socket when you want to switch it off.

So versatile
I have found so many uses for it. Very versatile. Sliced bread one side at a time so as not to crush bread. Make hot dogs & other meats on it. Easily cleaned by rinsing excess with water and then washing with warm soapy water. Good quick heating. Performs well and matches well with our other stainless steel appliances.

This item looks wonderfully, especially in a quick pinch. It sauté vegetables nicely like onions and your bell peppers, and makes anything that you’re cooking pretty much better in general! Easy to clean up and store as well.

Much better than the $20 sandwich makers
I love this thing! I had a cheaper sandwich maker. The ones that are around $20 and cut your sandwich into triangles. I loved it, but it broke trying to put a sandwich with some extras in it. This maker allows me to put whatever I want in it and it still works. I can put a “shaggy” sandwich on it and it would still work. It has a gap of 4-5 inches, it’s nuts. I got it about two weeks ago and had to get a burrito today because I’m finally sandwiched out. It doesn’t have a temperature control, or lay flat option. It also doesn’t stop halfway, so no open face sandwiches. None of those things were something I needed. If you’re looking for that you’d have to go elsewhere. It does have a “lock” to keep it closed while moving it, but I don’t see it leaving my counter anytime soon. It can cook four “store loaf” sized bread sandwiches at a time.

No ON or OFF button
This device lacks a power button, and once plugged in, the plate’s temperature remains high even if we forget to turn it off. Unfortunately, there is no option available to adjust the temperature setting.

Great Little Appliance
As with other reviewers who noticed, ours smelled awful during its first dozen uses or so. Since then it seems to have burned off. I wish manufacturers could do something about that so they don’t get so many bad first impressions. My suggestion: plug it in and leave it on for an hour or so. Let it burn off. We’ve mostly made grilled cheese sandwiches with it. It’s very easy and cleans up easily. It also cools down quick so you can wipe it down, wait a couple minutes, then put it away. We made “French” toast with it the other day and it turned out great!

Solid Small Grill
I bought this sandwich press/grill with the intention of making panini’s. This girl performs as intended. It isn’t fancy and let’s you control the temperature. You plug it in and it takes about 2 minutes to heat up, the machine has a green light when it is to temperature.I only cook for my wife and I. The grill plate is easily big enough for 2 sandwiches, but anymore than that and you will have to do it in bunches. It is easy to clean, however you have to be careful, the top plate can rotate and burn you if you’re not paying attention while cleaning. The chord is short, you need to be within 2 feet or less to an electrical outlet. The locking mechanism on the side to not allow the grill to open is mostly for looks. It will slide out of place when you hold the grill upright. You need to grab the top and bottom of the grill to prevent this from happening.

Low end but acceptable for the price range
I didn’t want to spend a lot on what I use this for. It will get used maybe 20 times a year for two people and nothing fancy. Perfect for an occasional Reuben or Cuban sandwich, perhaps a hamburger or similar.Pros:1] It’s cheap2] Despite not having a temperature control or an on/off switch, it produces an okay sandwich so long as you don’t have to make adjustments for size or ingredients that are too cold.3] Easy to clean up with just a damp washcloth while it’s still hot.Cons:1] It’s small. Two medium sandwiches are its max load, and those are going to be close together2] No one/off switch. You put the plug and pull it out to turn it on.3] There’s one temperature so consider warming up ingredients if your sandwich is thick4] There’s some flexibility to the top to allow it to come down even but it’s awkward and not self-leveling.5] The drip tray is too small and too loose. It just falls out any time you move the unit and probably isn’t worth anything more than a couple of tablespoons of liquid. If you’re doing meat, make sure that you put this panini maker on a cookie sheet or you’ll be wiping juices off your counter and floor.6] The drain hole to the drip pan is very small. A shred or two of sauerkraut can plug it up.All those cons aside, it gets the job done on the cheap, it doesn’t pretend to be more than it is, and as far as a budget panini maker, I would recommend it so long as the above is understood.

Great Panini Grill!
I love this product! I’ve been wanting a panini press for the longest time and am so glad I purchased this product. It’s so easy to use and clean. It makes delicious paninis! I highly recommend this product! I got the one with the catch drawer and recommend spending the extra $5 for it. This way if there is any oil or crumbs they go directly into the drawer and not the counter.

If you like deli, you would love this product!
Pros:- I make sandwiches that taste amazing and crispy quesadillas using this and I am happy with my purchase.- The drip tray is amazing and the surface is super easy to clean.- The scraper tool is really good to clean between the grooves.- It heats up quickly and transfers the heat to the food rapidly.- I’ve never tried to make grill on this but from the experience I have with paninis and quesadillas I can say this definitely makes grilling possible.Cons:- I wish there would be some type of temperature or mode to have more control on what you cook but for the price point, I can’t complain much compared to other brands.- The ready light comes on sometimes randomly when it is already hot which is not a big deal after you learn how to use the device.- The ready alert would be better to have audible feedback like a beep sound so you would never burn anything on this panini maker.- Upright storage is a nice feature but if you have crumbles left on the panini maker, the crumbles will fall between the opening when switching from horizontal to vertical position.
