I don’t normally review items as I have limited time. This is an exception only because it has mixed reviews. I am a DIY/weekend mechanic, so for me, this gets limited use vs a mechanic who would use these daily. To start with, the box is made from a nice heavy plastic. It is reinforced, but isn’t soft – somewhere between the feeling of hard plastic with some give. The case is a clam-shell design so the hinges will eventually wear out as they too, are plastic. The case opens flat which is nice so you can see all of your available bits. The top part of the case (when open) has nice detentes to hold this bits and to keep them from falling out – extremely nice because it keeps it organized. The tools themselves aren’t name brand quality but that is reflected in the price. The big selling point for me was this set is COMPREHENSIVE. It includes all the parts I need to work on my Mercedes. Star bits, e-torx, long torx. EVERYTHING. It makes life easy. This set even comes with some hardened sockets for the impact driver. I haven’t tried those yet, but will review later. This is a good buy for any weekend/DIY person. Definitely recommend.

Have used, but a few bits have broke.

Great value, i only needed a few of the security torx, but it made sense to get the full kit, was only like 25.00 more, but now i have more sizes for down the road projects. Some reviews talked about tools following out of their spots, just put some packing foam like i did and the problem is solved.

As a field tech, you never know what you’ll be running into on the road. This set has gotten me in and out of places with ease. This is going to be my 3rd set bought from here. The first set was stolen and the second fell down near a city drain. Third times the charm!!!

So of course the kit was amazing however amazing delivered it with hole in package…… crazy how they would even try to leave it like this

This has every Torx, Allen external hex, and E-Torx bit size one needs for BMW repair and maintenence, plus probably other German and European makes. You probably need to couple this with the GearWrench four-pack E-Torx double closed end ratcheting wrenches (8 sizes in four wrenches) as well due to BMW’s often inconvenient use of E-Torx headed fasteners’ heads facing into cramped quarters and obstructions. You could use a 12 point standard fixed or preferably ratcheting wrench but risk rounding off the Torx heads in the process, and then you’ll be in a world of poo, so I recommend that set with this (I bought one set at a time but wish I had bought both together for immediate use). This socket set includes the smallest sizes needed for automotive and other repair through the necessary big T-60 Torx bit one needs to release the tension of the accessory belt for tensioner, idler pulley, and belt replacement. It also includes the large Allen external hex sockets you need for the oil fill and drain plugs for the differentials, transmission, transfer case, etc. The quality is solid, with clean etchings indicating size (though a small font that requires occasional eye strain alleviated by the matching markings in the blow-molded case), and excellent fastener head engagement. I already recently used an array of these small to large E-Torx, Torx, and mainly large Allen hex bits in my recent BMW extensive maintenence activities. Coupled with GearWrench ratcheting standard hex and E-Torx wrenches, Milwaukee standard hex sockets and ratchets and breaker bar (for the belt tensioner), my buddy and I in my garage did all the fluids, oil filter housing gasket, differentials, transfer case, belts and pulleys, you name it, on two N55-engined E-chassis Bimmers. These sockets coupled with the aforementioned ratcheting E-Torx wrenches were indispensable for these jobs. Recommended especially because it keeps the array of your atypical non-hex sockets all in one place in a neat case beside your existing cases of standard ratchets and hex sockets and extensions/adapters and doesn’t require you to run out and purchase an oddball size that isn’t included, doesn’t match an existing set, and requires storage elsewhere. If you want every quality non-hex socket bit you need for your Bimmer or similar all in one place, this is the way to go! A single GearWrench T60 for the tensioner release is 12 bucks. This is clearly a great value relative to a bunch of rails or individual bits bought separately over time. Worth the investment, and I was happy to donate or cheaply sell all the nonmatching, diversely-stored oddballs once I got this. I may have kept the spares if I had the space, which I don’t — must reduce clutter and maintain organization.

I took a chance on ordering this because of all the positive reviews. But none of the reviews or the product information give you all the sizes this set contains. So I hoped it would be a true “Master SAE/Metric” set. A “master” set is supposed to provide extensive variety, the full range of sizes, high quality and organized storage.
– After receiving this set, I found that it is missing some of the most important sizes I need. Specifically, in the long hex bit sockets, ALL of the SAE sizes are excluded from this set. Why??? I can get short hex bit sockets from many vendors, but I specifically wanted all the sizes in the long versions.
– The case doesn’t hold all the bits well. When I received it, items were scattered everywhere inside the case. After spending a good amount of time organizing the contents, I found that any time you are mobile with this case, everything in the bottom half falls out and you have to re-organize it again. Very irritating.
– The hex bits are not up to the standards of Wiha. On the recent job where I compared this against Wiha, the Wiha bits did not damage or round any fasteners and after torquing, the bit came out effortlessly. These Gearwrench bits damaged several fasteners and also tended to get stuck in the fastener pretty good, requiring a lot of effort to get it out. That’s not confidence-inspiring.
I’ll be sending these back. BTW, my set was missing one item when I received it. I guess that’s part of the poor quality control other reviews have noted.
