I just purchased 2 sets (of the 4-piece sets with storage pouch) and have inspected both. I wanted to clarify questions and update on issues that came up in prior reviews:
— The pouch that comes with each set now closes properly, at least on the ones I got. The snap button on each pouch also seems secure. Each pick has a small clear plastic (vinyl?) protective tube covering the tip.
— Each of the picks I received (8 total, across 2 sets) are securely attached to the handle. There is no movement at all. The picks themselves are thicker than expected, and likely too large/unwieldy to use on things like delicate computer electronics. Overall, they appear to be sturdy/strong, though I could see them bending under substantial pressure.
— Both my sets are now made in Taiwan but ‘finished in mainland China’, according to the packaging. The amazon listing currently says they’re made in Taiwan, with no mention of China.
I have not used these picks yet so can’t vouch for durability under use or over the longer term. But I did want to clarify some of the issues and questions that came up in earlier reviews.
I will try to update if any notable problems with the sets I got, once I’ve had a chance to use them.

Much better than the harbor freight ones its replacing. I especially love the case to keep them together.

It turns out picks are a tool that get used more often than I thought. I’d bought the cheap ones are HF (the orange ones) and since I use them often enough they were due for an upgrade. The handles on these feel better in the hand and there are two much larger picks for larger jobs.

This set was on sale and I couldn’t pass it up. Love Gearwrench tools.

The metal picks slide right out of the handles. See attached photo. My $1 set from harbor freight worked better for pulling some old seals that were a little stubborn. For the price this should not fail this way.
Update: GW replaced the set and this set is holding up so I believe the first set was defective. Warranty support was straightforward and quick.

I like this Gearwrench brand set of hook and picks. It came with 7 pieces and they all look great. I have used this brand before so I know they are a good quality set of tools. These will be very useful around my shop.

Highly recommend, strong, great finish, all types, ergonomic, great price. Best of all it even comes in a little plastic organizer to keep them in place. Just what I wanted

I’ve never purchased a Gearwrench product before but I seen these on sale and didn’t already have a set of picks so I gave them a try. They are slightly larger than I expected, but they are solid and sturdy, the handles are nice and they all around feel like nice tools. Time will tell but I’m happy with them so far.
