Go with the bolt biter version with auto bite. My use on these is infrequent so I’m ok with the Gearwrench brand here. If I were using daily I’d move over to Knipex, despite their headache warranty, they make great tools. I would look at all 3 versions and decide what fits your life best. Good. -1 only because I know the teeth will wear with daily use, whereas the Knipex Cobra teeth are near indestructible. All things considered, good for price in general. Good DIY choice and even pro with infrequent or semi frequent use. Rubberized lower grip for non marring chrome applications

So far these appear to be good quality groove joint “water pump” pliers. The fit and finish is good. There is little jaw play. These can be used in auto adjust mode or manual adjust mode. Auto adjust works pretty well, but for maximum comfort and torque you can easily switch to manual mode. In manual adjust mode, these are slightly easier to adjust then my Irwin V-jaw GrooveLock pliers. These do have more flex then the Irwins. These were a very good price for the 4 piece set. Time will tell if they are durable. I like them.

These pliers are well built and feel great in the hand. They tend to be larger in size and provide great leverage for cutting, gripping or whatever else you need to do with them. Would highly recommend this set as a one stop shop for you plier needs.

I have always been a Craftsman tool guy since the 80’s, but with the demise of craftsman, this Gear Wrench plier set is a solid option for the home mechnic that wants some quality tools.
Can’t comment on their longevity, but initial impressions are they are very solid, and will probably be using these in 20 years from now so long as I don’t loose them.
