I live in an apartment and have a home business so I needed a lot more office space put into an already cramped area. I originally had a student type corner desk in the same spot with two end tables on either side holding my pc, printer and stacks of paperwork. After 2+ weeks of traveling to stores to physically see and measure the desks I could find I decided to go with the Bush Cabot L-shape desk along with the matching hutch from Amazon. I have owned it for a little over a month as of the writing of this review and have used it every day. I’m going to try and address the issues/questions I’ve read in other reviews.
This is a mass-produced particle/press board furniture product, not solid wood and not hand crafted. If you have never owned or assembled this type of furniture take notes, the following goes for any furniture of this type.
1. Read the instructions from cover to cover before doing anything, then read them again and make sure all the parts/hardware are included.
2. It WILL scratch easily. The wood finish is more or less wall paper glued to the particle board. I even scratched mine due to impatience while hooking up my monitor (which is rather large and barely fit in the hutch opening-see pic). But since finishing the assembly I have had no scratches, I even use one of my mouses on the desk without a pad. I used a sharpie to cover it nicely.
3. Mass produced by machinery, not hand. This means that some of the holes may be slightly off, or not completely pre-drilled. It is a relatively soft wood product so lining up and “persuading” a screw to go where it is needed is easy. DO NOT use power tools to assemble, it is not necessary and any slips or over torquing WILL damage your furniture possibly to the point of no repair.
4. Buy a small bottle of wood glue to use everywhere a dowel is needed to add some stability. Most of this “assembly needed” furniture includes a small bottle in the packaging but this desk/hutch did not. You can find it at just about any store for less than $5 and it is worth it.
5. The wire management consists of a hook inside the pc cabinet and the USB port, not much else. There is a gap between the hutch backing and the desk that allows wires to be fed through, not very pretty but easy enough to manage with some wire ties, time and patience. (I plan on doing that one day…)
6. The phone charging tray/cubby is close to useless as most phones will only fit laying on their side and the “shelf” used to hold the charging tray is only 4.5” deep leaving it useless as anything else. (see pic) Also, the “tray” is felt covered and slides around, some two-sided tape or Velcro helps. It does work nicely on the desktop or on another table though.
These things said, this is a beautiful desk/hutch combo for the price and it has plenty of storage and workspace. I have a printer, laptop, speakers, 27” monitor and pc tower all on the desktop with plenty of room to use each. (Yes, there is a space for the tower behind a beautiful glass inlaid door but I have a gaming pc that needs to be seen and not tucked away) My dog even has a bed underneath and I still fit fine. The construction is sturdy (especially after using the wood glue) and I am very happy with my decision to buy this combo. I ordered both the desk and hutch together and got a small discount from Amazon for doing so. Hope this helps.

I bought this desk because I am working from home and need a lot of space for these monitors, which are each 20 inches, for the perspective. I am very happy with the purchase and would definitely recommend this desk. Here is my feedback:
PROS:
– The finish is very pretty. I got the Harvest Cherry. It’s not “wood”, don’t expect wood and you won’t be disappointed.. this is particle board that has a finish, but it’s a nice finish. You do want to be careful not to chip or scratch it, but it’s not made of glass. I am honestly glad it is not real wood because this desk is very heavy already.
– It has enough space to hold everything I need it to hold. Two 20-inch monitors, two laptops, some odds and ends, keyboard, mouse, etc. One of the sides is a little bit wider than the other (the side with the cabinet), just an FYI. The cabinet can fit a standing CPU or you can use it for whatever.
– It’s not too big and not too small for a space… It’s a good-sized desk to have to sit at all day.
– It looks exactly as advertised. No surprises.
– I thought the glass in the cabinet looked a little cheesy in the advertisement but I wanted the desk anyway; in actuality the cabinet is pretty nice. I thought there were colored bars in the glass in the picture but it’s actually just how they cut/designed the glass itself and that’s how it looks when it’s photographed. The quality is nice.
CONS:
– Okay, let’s talk about this assembly — there are 31 steps and some of them have these mini-steps. It WILL. take. A GOOD FEW HOURS. (Like maybe 4 hours) … Do not underestimate this. It is not terribly difficult, you don’t need to be a rocket scientist, but this is not a walk in the park. You CAN do it using only a screwdriver but my hand is in paaain now; a power screwdriver might really help as some other reviews have said. You have to screw in like 300 THINGS. :O D: The finished product is worth it though. My hand needs a spa day now but I am chilling at my nice new pretty desk lol. — I did have to take a break and come back to it…
– Guys, seriously, it’s a whole carpentry project. You will need a screwdriver, a hammer, and some wood glue. The wood glue is for the dowels but the finished assembly will not be “relying” on the glue as it will be held in by other pieces; it’s just very good measure and helps a lot during the process. I thought about it after-the-fact and would really not recommend skipping the glue, avoid the temptation if you don’t have any and go get some lol. Be careful not to lose these little nails, it comes with the exact amount of things you need and it’s a LOT of little screws and metal pieces. The good thing is the instructions are not hard to follow at all, everything is clearly labeled …. make sure you look closely at the drawings and pay attention when it says “finished side up” etc so you know your pieces are in the right orientation. On two steps it will direct you to watch a video to help, which is nice.
– This phone holder shelf thing is kind of pointless. It would have been better if it were a real shelf… it won’t fit many people’s phones and I think it will be more convenient just to charge my phone and not have to string all these cords through to that part. But I don’t mind it, it’s not bothersome to me, it doesn’t look ugly… I just doubt anyone is really using that feature. Maybe I’ll just put my phone in it to prevent losing it. *shrug* So the desk has a little quirk. Probably everyone who ever sees your desk will be like “what’s this part for” and you’ll be like “I am not really sure” ..
– You CAN put it together yourself, but it would be WAY. EASIER. with a helper (and the instructions say that you need one on four or five steps). If you do it yourself, you will have to use some boxes or something to hold parts up at times. I really do not recommend putting it together by yourself unless you have to. . … Particularly the step where you put the big heavy slab on top and you need to make sure 22 bolts line up with 22 holes omg… I was SWEATING. (I am a 5′ 3″ woman, for the perspective… maybe if you’re a big strappy dude it won’t be a problem)… CAN it be done alone? Yes. But it’s not made to be put together alone so please be careful not to hurt yourself. If you are strong enough to lift and install one of those older heavy window air conditioning units on your own, you can probably do this. If you are not, don’t even try this, please get a friend; with a buddy it’s probably a piece of cake.
All in all, I REALLY like this desk. It was worth the assembly and the time. I am very happy with it.

Overall, a beautiful piece of furniture, well constructed, great price, great manufacturer customer service, and very suitable to my needs for my office. Totally satisfied, highly recommended.
I really love this desk. It is exactly what I was looking for, and I looked at a lot of them If you are trying to assemble the desk on your own, I have made some suggestions regarding the assembly of the desk on your own, based on my experience. I highly recommend that you contact Customer Service should you have an issue with assembly. Don’t rely on my experience or how I managed to build the desk on my own. Of note is that the assembly instructions are pictographs , so look at them carefully while assembling.
I did contact Customer Service regarding a damaged piece. They handled my issue professionally and with great friendly service. The issue was resolved promptly and a replacement part was shipped immediately, at no cost to me.
I have a home office that had a built in desk of about 7′ long. It was adequate, but did not provide the desk top area that I needed, nor the storage. This desk provided all of that. It is very well constructed, the components fit together with no gaps or misalignment. It comes with a file drawer, a supply drawer, an under counter cabinet for storage, as well as two shelves one I use to store printer paper (3 3/4 inches tall) over the cabinet, and a second shelf ( 6 inches tall) over the drawers, that I use to store a package of file folders, envelopes, etc.
I put the desk together with no help. I installed the desk top on the larger base unit after completing its assembly (a deviation from the instructions), and moved the larger base unit into place with some help. I supported from bottom of cross piece, not picking it up under the lip of desk top (that area can be fragile and might not support the weight of the desk) and the other end was picked up under the desk top overhang on the cabinet side which is well supported well by the cabinet, to the position where I needed it placed This piece it is heavy. I connected the return piece (the one with the drawers) after assembling it separately, again a deviation from the instructions, and combined it to the the main desk, again without help, After connecting it to the main desk. I put on the desk top on the return as per the instructions.
I can’t comment on the assembly time, since I took my time thinking through what needed to be done next, without assembly help. This added to overall time it took, longer than the 3 hours assembly time estimated in other reviews.

The 2 packages arrived in perfect condition. The contents were well packed with no scratches, damage, or missing parts. Some reviewers claimed that the instructions were inadequate. I found it quite the opposite. There are very few written instructions. But, there are great detailed, illustrated drawings. If you just take one page at a time and complete each simple sub-assembly to match the drawing it will all come together without any problems. Every fastener is in a numbered bag, and every part has a part number identifier decal which matches the drawing. I did the assembly by myself. No help needed. It is almost impossible to make a mistake. Each fastener is shown on the drawings in full size detail.
There are a lot of parts so it does take a few hours to assemble. The process is easy, but slow. There are lots of fasteners. You absolutely do not need to glue anything to assemble a very sturdy desk. In my opinion it is best not to use a power screwdriver. The components have a particle board base and I have lots of experience with particle board. Unless you have the torque set pretty low you can easily tear out the particle board making it impossible to install a fastener at that location. A plain old screwdriver will give a much better feel for how much stress the particle board can tolerate.
When I assembled the drawer I just set the screws holding the slides in about the center of the hole and there was no need for any adjustments. The drawer fit perfectly. The glass paneled door has Euro style hinges. These can be a little tricky if you have no experience with them. I have used them many times so I was able to quickly adjust the door until it fit the opening exactly right.
The finish on all surfaces is more durable than I was expecting. If you just use a little care not to let sharp items be pulled over the surface I think it should be good for long term use.
I use a laptop computer so the big desktop cabinet opening is not so useful for me. I wish they had included an extra flat shelf that could be installed in the opening. I intend to make one later and will have to try and match the finish.
All things considered I would challenge anyone to find a better quality desk without paying a LOT more money.

Overall:
We have no complaints about this desk. It is about on par or slightly better than IKEA’s upper-middle line: particle board with the veneer over it, but it doesn’t feel cheap and flaky, nor does it smell of glue. Building this was an easy task for my husband and I, and I was 5 months pregnant at the time (no heavy lifting for me, but that didn’t negatively affect the building process). The only time we had some difficulty was getting the glass door hinges adjusted properly for the door to close without rubbing. I think we over complicated that on our own, though, because we took the hinge apart before trying it at the default tightest setting, which ended up being the right one. Also, when attaching the veneered backing, the nails have screw heads. I think this is because it offers a more finished look, but it was super confusing when we couldn’t screw them in. Of course, the instructions show using a hammer, but when you pick up a slightly threaded fastener with a screw head, it is natural to assume it is a screw, not a nail.
Every single piece in this set is clearly labeled. All of the hardware and fixtures were labeled and present in proper number as well. Any of the labels are easily peeled off if some of them end up being visible. The instructions are very clear and well-labeled. The only time we had any confusion over the instructions was when we were building the drawers and had were supposed to have not reattached the runners to the drawer mechanism already in the cabinet (they were supposed to be attached to the drawers and then slid back on). Not a big deal! We realized our mistake and remedied it within two minutes.
If you’ve ever built IKEA furniture, this is a walk in the park in comparison. Any reasonable adult or adolescent should be able to build this piece with little difficulty, though it is definitely a two-person job at times.
Tools needed:
We used a cordless drill with the clutch helping us keep at a slow speed, but a screw driver would have worked fine.
Regular claw hammer
optional: rubber mallet for tacking in the included plastic floor protectors
optional: wood glue to secure wooden pegs
Building time:
I am not exactly sure how long it took, but we accomplished it in an afternoon. I think it was around 4 hours working at a leisurely pace. We unpacked both boxes, grouping like pieces together in our hallway for easy access, put the baggies of various sized screws/pegs/etc in numerical order, and then built on a beach towel to prevent scratching of our wood floors or new desk.
Packaging note:
This product comes in two (heavy) boxes. The boxes are stapled and glued shut, and then are lined with Styrofoam inside. Small boxes (often housing the bags of hardware) or pieces of styrofoam are used to keep the pieces from sliding around. I was impressed with how well this was packaged! However…at one point in shipping, one of our boxes had been dropped and was delivered in an obviously "exploded" fashion. Fortunately, nothing was missing or damaged, and this is not an Amazon problem. But, I think it is worth noting for both the positive and negative implications: these boxes can survive a beating, but be sure to count and check your pieces right away for damage if you get a damaged box.
End result:
My husband has his two 23" monitors on one arm of the desk along with his two speakers, keyboard, and mouse; his computer is in the corner (he has a LAN computer with a case shaped like a milk crate…it isn’t going to fit in any standard CPU cabinet, so we put the serge protector, wireless router, and modem in the cabinet); and a printer in line with the drawers on the other arm of the desk. It is a tighter fit than we had hoped, but, it is comfortable, and there is some room on the drawer-side arm for a laptop to sit, or some snacks, or just to have some basic elbow room. We haven’t had any scratching or damage in the past couple of weeks of use. Will update if anything bad happens. 🙂

First off, this desk has a lot of pieces and hardware so make sure you have all of it before you even start. This actually came in two different boxes and they were delivered on different (but consecutive days). I would highly advise getting an electric screwdriver.
It took about 2-3 hours to assemble, but I also had my brother and nephew helping. It can be done alone but goes much quicker with at least 2 people. You can each work on a page at once and it’s much easier to line up the heavier boards.
My helpers did somehow manage to strip some screws and not screw them in far enough but it only meant that there were two cams that couldn’t be put in the computer cabinet. Not a deal breaker and it’s still sturdy. The instructions are thorough but it’s possible to use the wrong screws if you’re not paying attention. Like my helpers did… all the same, it didn’t hurt the sliding drawers so it’s not a huge problem (some men just aren’t very good with instructions…).
As for the finished product, I love it! Very roomy and holds my 19” iMac, a 22” XP Pen graphic tablet and my printer with room to spare. I did go the extra mile and use Thompson Water Seal to protect the top and also installed rubber bumpers. I was going to reattach my old keyboard drawer but the bumpers actually make terrific wrist rests so it wasn’t needed.
I will say, the little felt device ledge is kind of useless. I wouldn’t actually trust it to hold anything expensive but it’s not a bad place to put short USB chargers and adapters. A shelf would have been more useful but it’s really my only (and minor) complaint.
Again, I have an iMac so I’m not using the computer cabinet for a tower. I did see a review that suggested cutting out more of the back panel so you don’t need to leave the door open for air flow too. Optional adjustable shelves would have been a great option but I did use the space well, for extra printer paper and other boxes of peripherals.
All in all, it’s what I was hoping for in a desk and I’m very happy.

Given the footprint and weight of the table, the packaging was done well. Installation was difficult even for a pro. Their follow on video QR codes, were insufficient. I wish they had one complete installation video instead of bits and pieces of info guides. on the finished table, The leg room under the front and side panels is too low. Can’t pull up a recliner chair up or an ottoman support under. There is not enough Chair wiggle room. We cant comfortably sit either to the right or left. It’s more suitable for corner faced seating. The Linen white oak color looks great and is a savior of all the negatives. I wish there was an inbuilt cable management tray under the desk and an inbuilt power/usb port (even for some extra bucks). Overall sturdy table, nice looks but falls short in functional aspects.

I like the desk very much, BUT as one reviewer noted, if you have a spill, clean it up quickly. There is a thin wood veneer that will lift from the compress below and bubble. Not a huge issue for me, I know I have kids and that is what happened to me, but it may for someone else. Keep plenty of coasters and a towel around (just in case).
The desk itself is quite stable and surprisingly easy to assemble. I was able to do it solo in about 4.5 hrs with a severely pulled back muscle. Given my stop/start/pass out from pain meds progression, I figure I could probably finished this in around 2.5 – 3 hrs fully healthy. I wish the desk had more options in the regard to layout. A desk with a computer cupboard in the corner would have been nice as you will need a 12′ cable to reach your monitors mounted/stationed there (something not most people have nor comes with most monitors), especially if you have multiple monitors. I understand this would have to be a completely separate model, but this is also in hopes that they may take it as a suggestion.
I also have to say I like the drawers. They are very smooth in operation and the lower file cabinet has PLENTY of room. I’m using this as a gaming desk and all my peripherals fit in the drawer, including the X-55 Rhino HOTAS AND a circumaural headset with plenty of room for more. My desk area is much cleaner and more orderly thanks to the storage options, especially since I’m not using the computer hutch for my rig. The USB hub is handy for some peripherals, but on the whole, it’s location leaves it pretty useless for a corner desk as I am using it. A secondary hole in the corner would have made it much more useful.
All-in-all I’m happy with it, the veneer bubbling/lifting is a bit of a downer, the somewhat limited use of the USB hub, and the suggested computer cabinet being so far from the corner takes it down a notch, but still a good value.
Also know, while it had no impact on my score, I was pretty peeved that my desk arrived early. Yes, you got it right, I’m upset that it arrived early. In most cases that is a major "WIN!", but in my case I needed to ensure someone was able to receive it. As I was incapacitated with my injury, I needed to have a friend receive it for me. Instead, it arrived a day early and the only person to receive it was my Grandfather. Not a man that needs to be moving this kind of weight around. So be aware that you may get your desk early and if you find yourself in a similar situation have them available even before the expected delivery date.

I purchased this desk recently for ~$240 at the time of writing and wanted to share a couple thoughts about it. This desk is actually quite nice and appears as it is presented on the product page. It does take a while to setup and build and will require some tools of your own to assemble. We used a hammer, a drill, and a few screwdrivers. It would also be useful to have someone to help you build it as a few pieces like the end drawers on the desk and the back support boards would be difficult to assemble by yourself. Overall the desk is nice and is a very solid desk which has no give despite the two top sections being connected by brackets.
My two biggest complaints about this desk are that we ended up short two screws for the desk that are needed for one of the door hinges and during the shipping the boxes for this desk were handled very roughly which resulted in several of the larger parts of the desk being scratched or chipped around the edges and a couple of the corners being squished. Two of the drawer sides labeled (R) had parts broken or cracked as well.
These minor points, which are at least partially, not the fault of the product itself are what made me rate this a 4 out of 5. Overall I am happy with the purchase but I am annoyed at how roughly handled the product was during shipping and I am disappointed that it was missing a few parts though I imagine it is nothing I can not find at a local hardware store to finish the desk.
My only other thought on the desk is the back coverings do not have any guide holes on the corner drawers and have very small screw heads so be prepared to deal with that if you want to make sure the corner drawers are enclosed.

I spent a LONG time trying to find the right computer desk for my home office and, after extensive research on Amazon, I felt that this desk was the right fit for me.
I’ve had it fully assembled for most of today and so far, it’s a great but not perfect fit.
First off, if you read the reviews here, you’ll notice most people talk about a few things. They say it looks really nice when assembled. That’s true. They also say it’s cheaply-made and scratches easily. I haven’t really worked too much on it yet but it seems pretty good so far.
The negative reviews all say how tough the assembly of this desk is and they’re not lying. It is a process that will take you quite a bit of time. It comes in two very heavy boxes with all the wood pieces split between the boxes and a ton of fasteners/screws packed together. I say this because you need to know up front it’s going to take some time to put together.
I’m not a handy person and I did everything by hand and only got tripped up a couple of times because of the instructions. By and large it’s fairly straightforward but a bit difficult. Took me somewhere north of six hours when all was said and done but I screwed everything by hand, not drill, and I tend to be slower than most anyway.
I will stress a few things. First, make sure you know where this is going to go before you start assembling it. It’s tricky to move it around. Second, have a system because there are hundreds of little pieces and it’s hard to keep track.
Overall, I’m very happy with this desk. It seems pretty sturdy and has a lot of space to work. If you’re thinking of buying this desk, go ahead and pull the trigger. It’s a great value for the money.
Edit: Just wanted those of you reading to know it’s been a few months since I wrote this original review and I’d like to amend it. The desk is amazing (I’m typing this from it right now) but the left door has given me nothing but problems since I assembled it. The instructions weren’t entirely clear on how to make sure the door is locked with the hinges and every since I really started putting in use on this unit, the door has gotten more and more annoying and regularly slips out of the top hinge.
Not a dealbreaker for me and I’d probably buy this desk again if I had to but an important note to those of you considering it.
