Edit; June 21st. Update.
As soon as I had opened this bag of cat food,
I had noticed that the strong and pleasant
aroma that has been characteristic of this blend
for the past 18 years was absent, I checked the
‘best by’ date, and it was inline with past purchases.
I didn’t want to make this comment at first,
but now several days later, I’m quite sure
that the smell is not the same, and my cat
doesn’t seem as impressed as usual either.
My best guess is that this sat in a hot warehouse,
or was just a bad batch. There is another blend
of Nine lives called ‘Indoor Cat’ that I had been
forced to buy once, about a year ago that I
thought smelled terrible, much different than
Plus Care, and my cat literally would NOT even
eat it, lol, she had very little interest eating
period until I was able to finally find another
bag of Plus Care, but today, I’m not really sure
what to think, I hope Nine Lives hasn’t changed
the excellent formula that my cat and previous
cat had thrived on for many years.
I’ve been buying this particular formula for years for
my two cats (only 1 now) they have/had done well on it,
and like/ed it. I initially bought this in about 2006
due to it’s ‘urinary-tract’ support, my older cat had had
debilitating issues, it would take her what seemed like
10 to 15 mins to pee.
I was able to segway off of medication and transition
to Plus Care in order to keep her in great shape.
I was told that ash (many deceptive names used for it
in ingredients apparently, to keep us from knowing)
in most or many pet food formulas is the main culprit
for having urinary tract issues. shrugs, I have no
medical background so I can’t confirm or deny the
claims, just what I was told.
PS, I also gave this to my Starling (bird) after
it was weened, this was her main diet, and
she did well for about 17 years.
Surprisingly, ‘bag’ was delivered in a nice amazon box
insuring no punctures and leaks to the bag, and via
USPS, which is the no excuse/delay nor bs svc in my
area, by far, the very best.

I can’t find 9 lives in any local stores anymore other than treats. This is a great value for the money and was worth buying in the event that he may not like it. My cat is picky and he loves the tuna and egg flavor. I haven’t seen that flavor offered by other brands. 2 paws up ❤️ 😺
