A very good saw. Use lightly as heavy or rigorous use can break or bend the teeth. Very precise and will cut through any wood when used properly.

This is perfect for a flush cut, i never had one before and wish i bought it earlier.

This is a saw with long teeth and is good for roughing things out, but it is not going to give the kind of smooth cut of a fine-toothed finishing saw. Even as a pull-saw, it does tend to dig in, so if you are cutting off dowel ends on a close-ti-finished piece, this will require some sanding. Note that this is not good for a miter box as the blade doesn’t have a deep profile, so the reinforcing metal strip along the top edge could interfere with a miter box slot.
It comes with a solft plastic sleeve with a zipper along the top edge, which is good for storing the saw. The bag also has a metal grommet if you like to hang your tools. The handle is wrapped with a plastic strip simulating the traditional wrap. This is not a high-dollar item, so you can’t expect it to be much more than it is, but considering all the competing products out there, it is a solid value at an affordable price.

The saw is in great shape, and works very well. I wish they had more products so I could get into the art of sashimono faster. I really respect the tradition and the practice from the culture is very wholesome so it’s a great skill to pick up and an even greater hobby to learn to keep the art form alive.

I’ve played with some cheaper versions of this type of saw and was never impressed. This brand may have changed my mind. I actually used this to cut the center divider out from under my sink, knowing that it would have to be reinstalled without any filler. I was able to easily cut through the divider without leaving a gap, and I was able to reinstall using only glue and clamps.
If you’re new to this type of saw, IT IS PULL-ONLY! A single push stroke could damage the blade, so keep that in mind.
The handle is hand wrapped, and I was impressed with how well made it is. This seems to be an art form that’s going away, but the people making these did an excellent job of it.

For people like me with a love of woodworking, but limited skills and patience, Japanese pull saws do an excellent job and require almost no maintenance. The kataba is one of the three styles I own, and is great for rough cutting.

Simply put, this saw is absolutely outstanding. The main reason I got this saw was for cutting rough lumber to length (are almost to length at least), however this saw quickly became an obviously much more capable tool. I can use this for everything from rough cross-cutting, to cutting out joinery, to even flush cutting pegs for timber framing, amazing tool at an amazing price. So far the blade has retained its sharpness through approximately 10 hours of hard use (stretched over multiple projects). I’ve little doubt that it will last much longer before needing a new blade considering it hasn’t even begun to slow down.

this is the first one I’ve ever bought and actually buying it now and using it it is a well-put-together Friday the blade is still sharp after even 22 ft of timber between 2 to 6 inand it’s a great pull saw rip through the wood like it should and it keeps its edge which is wonderful if you are using it for outdoor trimming or cutting wood and it’s really flexible

This is an excellent, cheap, cross cut saw. I have been able to accurately and easily cut through Maple, soft woods, and Walnut.
I liked the single blade nature of this saw and it has a slightly different tooth ratio than the double bladed one Which works really well.

I’m not impressed by this saw. I have tried several other brands and went with this one due to the hype given to it by a woodworking channel I watch. But this particular model just isn’t as sharp as the other pull saws I’ve used and for some reason I have been having a hard time keeping it as straight as i do with others when I’m starting the cut. Been using it for about a week now on hard and soft wood and I just cant fall into a good groove with it. it seems to be durable and weighted just fine. Just not as sharp as I’m used to pull saws being. Once inget the cut started it does make a clean cut just not as fast and with more effort needed. I shouldn’t have gone away from my favorite and now I know why. Good price point just a little on the harbor freight sharpness scale.
