Bought this as a gift for my coffee-addicted dad and he loves it. It sees daily use and still works great after over a year and a half. It boils water very quickly and quietly and shuts off automatically when it is done. The gentle blue light is very nice for early mornings, and boils the perfect amount of water for family coffee/tea. Very convenient to own and it saves my dad a lot of time in the mornings.

[UPDATE: I’ve learned to love it after 6 months of reliable use. We boil water in it 5 or 6 times a day, and still going strong. It does eventually shut off by itself, but only after 5-plus minutes of full boil–an inconvenience if you forget about it, but not dangerous.

The pros well outweigh the negatives, so I’ve upgraded to 4 stars. It’s reliable, nicely designed, boils quickly, glass stays clean. I now recommend it as a buy.]

[UPDATE: I sent it back and got another one. This one stays on, but it doesn’t turn off when the water boils–or even 5 minutes after full boiling. It just keeps going and going until you shut off manually.]

A nicely designed kettle that will not stay on. The on/off switch turns off as soon as you turn it on. If you wait and then hold it down for several seconds, it will sometimes stay on for 10 or 20 seconds more, before shutting off again.

I am quite familiar with these kettles with the Strix thermostat inside. I have a similar one of a different brand that I repaired myself by sourcing a new thermostat from Alibaba in China.

The British-designed Strix is the best available thermostat for electric kettles, and usually lasts 8,000-plus uses. I always make sure the kettles I order have these installed. However, they are occasionally out of adjustment. A thermostat is an electrico-mechanical device dependent upon a piece of springy metal, known as a bimetallic strip, that bends with temperature increase, owing to the different coefficients of expansion of the two metals. Any slight maladjustment in the tension on the strip can cause it to shut off too quickly as mine is doing.

The kettle I bought and am now returning is from Amazon Warehouse and rated as “Used like new.” It came in an undamaged box, properly packed and cushioned, and with all the paperwork. Clearly no one took the trouble to fill it with water and test it, or they would have found out it was defective. I fault Amazon for simply recycling stuff at a discount without pre-testing, and also the manufacturer for shipping a defective item without a pre-test.

I suppose both businesses know the failure rate of their products, and calculate that the expense they incur on 2-way shipping of the small percentage of defective items is more than made up for by the profit they earn on the good ones plus the bad ones that are not returned. I will thus throw my small monkey wrench into this unscrupulous process by giving them a well-deserved 1-star rating, and hope against hope that it may contribute to their moral/ethical reform.

I still believe, somewhere deep down, that running a superior and above-board business with proper quality control could prove more profitable in the long run then shipping out a known percentage of defective products and having to take the loss on returns. Even as I also recognize in this thought the possibility that I am guided by my own wishful naivété. The almighty forces of the market seem to dictate that the current practice of shipping a certain percentage of junk, is more profitable for both the manufacturer and online retailer.

So shame on you Cosori and Amazon for your unscrupulous yet highly successful business practices! (And woe to me for attempting to oppose the seemingly omnipotent Zeitgeist.)

The COSORI Electric Kettle has completely transformed my daily tea and coffee routine, and I couldn’t be happier with its performance and convenience. This sleek and stylish kettle not only boils water quickly but also offers a range of thoughtful features that make it a standout addition to any kitchen.

First and foremost, the speed at which this kettle boils water is impressive. With its powerful 1500W heating element, it brings water to a boil in a matter of minutes, saving me valuable time during busy mornings or when entertaining guests. The large 1.7L capacity is perfect for brewing multiple cups of tea or coffee, making it ideal for both individual use and serving guests.

The stainless steel construction of this kettle is not only durable but also adds a touch of elegance to my kitchen countertop. The inner lid and filter are also made of stainless steel, ensuring that the water remains pure and free from any plastic or unwanted flavors. Plus, the wide opening makes it easy to fill and clean, simplifying the maintenance process.

I particularly appreciate the convenience of the ergonomic handle and easy-pour spout. The handle stays cool to the touch, allowing for safe and comfortable handling, while the precision pour spout ensures a steady and controlled flow of hot water without any drips or spills. It’s a small detail, but it makes a big difference in the overall user experience.

Another feature that sets this kettle apart is its automatic shut-off and boil-dry protection. I no longer have to worry about forgetting to turn off the kettle or damaging it by accidentally boiling it dry. The kettle shuts off automatically once the water reaches a boil or if the water level is too low, providing added safety and peace of mind.

Overall, I couldn’t be more satisfied with the COSORI Electric Kettle. With its fast boiling time, durable stainless steel construction, convenient features, and safety mechanisms, it’s a must-have appliance for any kitchen. Whether you’re brewing your morning cup of tea or preparing hot water for cooking, this kettle delivers reliable performance and convenience every time. Highly recommended!

I am very happy with my purchase of this electric kettle. The fact that there’s no plastic contact with water is a huge plus for me. The 1.7L capacity is perfect for my needs, and the 1500W power ensures that it heats up quickly. Sometime too fast so I’m not sure if I switched it on 🙂
I also appreciate the automatic shut-off feature, which adds a layer of safety and convenience.

It’s easy to clean and looks good. What else can one ask of an electric kettle?

Overall, this is a solid performer that I would highly recommend.

I first discovered this while staying at an Air B-N-B in Jersey City in July. I was so impressed by the kettle that I ordered one before even leaving. This kettle is quick, attractive, and brings the water to a perfect temperature for hot tea. Moreover, it’s reliable and super safe.

I’ve owned two other brands in the past, but would HIGHLY recommend this COSORI.

I got this for myself as a present for my birthday, two years ago. It’s my favorite thing I purchased that year! The box is well padded – it can be kept and travel safely well. The buttons are clearly labeled and easy to push. It has a secure handle that is safe from the heat of the glass/water. I enjoy and appreciate the base – a good plastic that is well insulated. If you lift up the kettle at any time during heating, it turns off. It truly will keep your water at the temp you set it to for up to 30 mins (great if you want tea ready after a shower or as you wind down for the night). It has some beeps but they aren’t shrill, nor are they too loud. Not too quiet either – I think they found right range for it. The boiling can sound a little loud – you notice it when it approaches a low-rolling boil up to a full rolling boil, but you can still hear the beep over that and not be startled. It cleans easily – it comes with instructions on how to descale it, and it is simply wiped out with a soft, non-scratching sponge.

One star has been taken off because the “screen” on the spout doesn’t stop large bugs at all. I get box elder bugs every winter and spring, and I had to invent a cover to keep the bugs out of my kettle. I don’t know what the purpose of it is; it’s too high from the glass to filter anything and it doesn’t block things from crawling right in. I know that’s a gross thought (and gross experience), but it can cleaned very easily. I also don’t enjoy how quickly the plate on the bottom/inside looks like it’s oxidizing. I don’t think it is – no look or taste of rust – but these small marks show up where the bubbles form as it heats and they just kinda stay there regardless of washing or descaling.

Although I don’t think it’s the perfect product, I am grateful I have given it a chance (and put it through its paces)! I would buy it again if mine broke down and I would advise others to get it if they have any concern for tea or handmade coffee – things that require specific temperature ranges to properly bring out flavor! This completely changed my tea game! Now I can’t fathom trying to brew tea well at home without it!

October 30, 2023 update: As mentioned in previous update, I used my older boiler for the toilet. Do NOT put boiling water in your toilet. HOT water is good, but not boiling water. It was raining in my basement, and I had to replace the wax ring in my commode. The boiling water melted my wax ring. This is not a review, but I had to warn others that it is NOT a good idea to pour boiling water in your pipes, after writing my previous update. Also, if you have a clog and that boiling water sits in one spot, it can mess up your plumbing. If you have a clog, use Dawn and WARM water. AND Do NOT use a kitchen boiler to pour water in your toilet; bacteria will splash up into the pot and can infect your family. Buy a separate pot to use for household purposes only, Now I can sleep at night.

October 16, 2023 Update: My water boiler is still running strong. Unfortunately, my toilet isn’t. I found out that an hour of Dawn in the commode followed by a bunch of boiling water is the best way to remove a clog (you’re welcomed). So, like most oldsters who have had a strong and loyal career, it was demoted as toilet boiler, while the more youthful water boiler takes the coveted place on the kitchen counter…looking cocky and proud. I felt it had to be done this way, because I also have a microscope and have proven to myself that a heavy dumping of boiling water into the commode can and will result in backsplash landing on and inside the water boiler. Yes, the commode water is probably clean…especially after dumping a small bottle of dawn in the toilet water, but this is one time I don’t want to take any chances. So until it takes it’s last current of electricity, this big guy will be the household toilet boiler. The button is still a bit difficult to push, but it still works. Thank you, water boiler, for taking one for the team and being a sport about it!

May 2, 2023 Update: My pot stopped working again. When this happens, I try to push down the button, but the button flips back up again. But this time, I was able to turn it on, but it turned off before the water reached boiling.

I figured this behavior meant the pot had finally reached retirement age. So I decided to open the other pot (same model, not been used). I reached over to unplug the cord, and the plug and about 2-3 inches of the cord was very very hot. So I unplugged the cord, and waited until the cord cooled.

In the meantime, I discovered that I had my instant pot sitting on the cord, by accident. I’m not sure if this was why my cord turned hot (I’m not an electrician), but I freed the cord from the ruthless instant pot (sometimes appliances don’t get along in my kitchen).

When the cord was finally cool, I plugged it back in and it worked like a charm!

Now, I’m not sure if an overheated plug was why my pot had stopped working in the past (I mentioned this behavior further down, and blamed it on a wet or overheated plate), but now I’m wondering if the cause of the pot going on a workpot’s strike, was because the cord was too hot. Either way, if it stops working, feel the plug. If it feels warm or hot to the touch, simply unplug it and wait until the cord cools.

Thank you, Water Heater People, for saving me from burning down my own kitchen. ❤️

    February 4, 2023 Update:
I made the mistake of leaving my water pot’s lid open when I turned it on. I got distracted and it boiled dry. Apparently the automatic shut-off mechanism is in the lid. When the lid is opened, the pot will not shut off automatically. So, I went out to pour my water and there wasn’t any.

However, the good news is my house is still standing and this pot STILL WORKS! I assume the pot clicked off while water was still in the pot, and then, the rest evaporated. If it had boiled completely dry, the elements would’ve burned out, I’m sure. The second pot I purchased is still in its box waiting to be used.

As for this original pot, I now make sure to tap on the lit before turning it on, just to make sure the lid is closed. It’s become a ritual. 🙂

    November 2022 Update:
I still haven’t used my second pot, yet. The first pot is still going strong. Occasionally, the lid gets sticky, and is difficult to open, but it’s an occasional issue. My water heater blew a few days before Thanksgiving, and this little fella picked up the slack! It heated water for dishes, and made Thanksgiving bearable.

    April 2022 Update:
After almost a year of using the pot, it became difficult to switch on. I immediately bought a duplicate; because, dang it! I love this pot! After I put in the order, I was demonstrating to my husband how it doesn’t turn on, and it turned on! My only explanation of what was happening was that something got wet and it hadn’t dried out yet. I do tend to shoot the water from the tap across the counter into the pot…just to make housework more fun. Maybe I should stop doing that, because water can get into the handle.

If your pot suddenly stops working, my suggestion is to unplug it and briefly take a blow dryer to the electric base and the pot’s base. If you have time, forget the blow dryer, and just set it aside to dry naturally.

Many of my appliances, when over heated or wet, will cut off and become unusable until it cools or dries out.

At least I have another pot. If this gets wet again, I can replace it with the new pot until this one dries out. I’m thinking of buying another pot just for the purpose of boiling eggs. That way, I won’t have to worry about bacteria getting in the coffee.

July 2021 update…so, yes, just like others have reported, about a month or so after using it, it suddenly wouldn’t turn on. No light, no heat. But I’m not one to sit idly by, and accept a setback as my new reality. No, Sirree! If I’m going to throw something out, I’m going to figure out the cause of the setback so I can repair it. In this case, the first ring around the protruding pin at the center of the bottom of the carafe became rusted. The rust blocks a current between the base and the carafe, preventing the unit from working effectively. If you place the pot at a different angle (place the pot with your alternate hand, for instance), it may work. At any rate, I simply used a fine-grade sand sponge and sanded off the rust. Steel wool may work, also; but it is a very precise and microscopic job, either way. After I sanded off the rust, I blew off the rust residue and added a thin coat of coconut oil to prevent further rusting. So far, so good. I added pictures to point out the rust. As for the white spots inside the pot, that’s going to happen if you have hard water. Hey, you didn’t hear about people in the 16th century complaining about spots in their water boiler, did you? Of course not! Those lucky people didn’t have to deal with water spots, because they carried their water in from the creek and poured it in an iron kettle. I’m sure you can find an iron kettle on Amazon. I’m not sure where your closest creek is. Maybe Google Maps can show you…OR…you can buy white vinegar or just pretend the spots aren’t there.

Mild update: Since I’m correcting typos that I failed to catch earlier, I will say as of today, June 14, 2021 the coconut oil appears to be holding its own. I added a wee bit more, but the kettle hasn’t stopped or failed to start since I applied the first thin coat. 🙂

Older review: I love it! My last water boiler almost caught my house on fire, leaked and the water sloshed out of the spout. This water boiler pours very smoothly and boils 1 liter of COLD water in four minutes. I haven’t timed warm water, but I will confirm it’s going to be less than four minutes.
The blue light is ok; not as spectacular as I thought it would be. But I didn’t buy this for entertainment.
The spout strainer pulls forward, covering the spout when you close the lid. When you open the lid, it has a spring that allows the strainer to be moved down for filling water. It doesn’t stay down, but it won’t snap off when you’re trying to fill the carafe, which was its intended purpose, I believe. It IS made of metal, so you don’t have to worry about poisoning your family with seeping plastic chemicals. In fact, nothing on or in this pot that comes in contact with liquid is made of plastic. The handle and outside of the lid are plastic for the purpose of insulating you from burns. I have on occasion been forced to use a silicone potholder to support the base while pouring, but I wouldn’t remove points for that.
It does NOT have a temp control…but you CAN watch it boil and could probably judge from the water’s action and reaction when it’s the temperature for you. Over time, you be a pro and figuring the proper tea temp.
I really do like this pot, and would recommend it for my own grandmother, if she was alive to use it.
The price is good for the product. I’d buy it if I were you. You don’t know when the price will rise.
I have a heat streak. So if something does go wrong with the pot after posting this review, I will be sure to return to post the issues. For now, it’s working great!

Absolutely love this Cosori! Being able to heat up 7 cups is the best. I can make my morning oatmeal, wash my blueberries, rinse out my pup’s food bowl, and have a nice hot soapy basin to wash my dishes after I’m done. I used to have to wait forever for my tap to get hot, (I even kept two large orange juice jugs to catch the water so I wouldn’t waste it before it got hot), but no more. Not only that, but it instantly dissolves the sugar for my hummingbird syrup. Easy to use, safe and very pleasing to look at, especially when it’s working, such a cool blue color, I can’t say enough good things about it. Buy with confidence, it’s worth every penny!

So convenient. Takes up little space. Glows a serene blue while boiling and tab makes an audible click when it’s done. Doesn’t heat up my small kitchen. I use it for tea, water for Jell-O, and to boil water to make hummingbird nectar. Pours smoothly, sturdy handle, easy to clean.
