Heirloom
This is my very first cast iron set. I chose it in case I screwed up the seasoning, handling, cleaning, cracking or whatever on the 6″ so that I would still have the 8″ and the 10″. Is almost like your first car, except these will last you longer if you care for them. First mistake: I grabbed the handle of the 6″ skillet with an oven glove that was NOT made of 100% cotton, so now it has some green stain underneath from the poly. I learned how to re-season it, bake it and clean it from several videos in Youtube. My first omelette came out perfect. Small but perfect. Sunny side up? No problem. After using it for a couple of weeks and gaining confidence, I started to re-season and use the 8″ and the 10″. So far they are NOT rusty. Again, the more you use them, the better they perform. I liked them so much, I decided to complete the set with the Lodge 12″ Remember to use the glove at ALL TIMES. Happy cooking from Mexico.

Nice set of pans
I bought these pans in hopes of ridding our household of any kind of Teflon or pfoa in our cookware. I was worried they would not be non stick. They aren’t too hard to clean as long as you clean them right away. They are a little on the heavy size and the small one is really really small. The green color is too retro for me but I kept them anyway. Overall good price for a good product. I would reccomend

Affordable cast iron
This cast iron set is not only affordable but works as intended. It is heavy, doesn’t scratch easily while cleaning, and brings the food to an equal level of heat while cooking. Cast iron is great to cook with. The pans did come a little smaller than I expected but works good for simple meals.

Nice Pans
The media could not be loaded.
I love these pans, I remember when my grandma would cook with them. I didn’t know how the pans would be because the price is so cheap. You get 3 under 40 bucks! I was a little iffy but I made a great choice. They’re easy to clean and I haven’t seen any rust yet so far so good. Had for a few months, I even baked my 3 cheese Mac and Cheese in the large pan.

Great Pans For The Price
These worked out to about $10 a pan when I purchased them. They are enameled, so you can’t use metal utensils. The heat distribution works like any traditional cast iron pan, but without needing to season them. I am hoping they hold up as long a traditional cast iron, because they’re cute and functional.

Nice Filler or Starter Set
To alleviate some of the doubt the negative reviews might generate, you can never go wrong with cast iron. New cast should be brought up to temp gradually to avoid warping or breakage. If not thoroughly dried (towel then heat), moisture will creep through the seasoning and rust will appear–it is iron.I bought this as a filler set, small pans to fill in for the larger skillets. In the photo, the skillet on the right is the 10″ from the set. On the left is an actual 10″ skillet 30+ years old, complete with “10” clearly marked in the handle. By today’s standards, it would be a 12″.While using dish soap is OK with some and taboo with others, I’m with the no soap crowd since dish soap is a degreaser, which softens the seasoning, which can also lead to rust spots from the moisture in the air. Instead, I clean my pans with baking soda as it not only cleans the pan, it removes left over odors, such as fish, then hand dry before putting it on the stove to heat through. If you want your cast iron to be non-stick, never use metal utensils as it scratches the seasoning the same as it would any non-stick pots or pans.Any oil is good for daily use, but once or twice a week (depending on use) I recommend using Crisbee Rub, which contains beeswax, for an ultra smooth surface. Keep in mind that pre-seasoned pans are not seasoned pans per se. Rather, they have an initial coating to protect them and get the buyer started. Still, with a little cleaning, they are good right out of the box for many uses where sticking isn’t a concern.

A cast-iron goes the long way. Utopia can match big names like Lodge if given the proper care
In the beginning, I absolutely didn’t know much about cast-iron skillets. I didn’t know it had a very this maintenance “debt” on it every time you used it. I didn’t know why it started to rust after days.Turns out I just didn’t know anything about anything cast-iron. So words like “seasoning” and “season after wash” weren’t exactly something I cared about due to ignorance. So, sure, there may be a lot of technical factors of why something like Utopia doesn’t match heat distribution of brands like Lodge. Maybe, maybe not. The question you need to ask yourself is whether you want to spend over a hundred bucks for Lodge or just get this. You can mitigate heat distribution once you learn how to use your cast-iron skillet.Recently, I started seasoning my cast iron skillet every time I use the oven. So if I use it 3 times a week. I will proceed to add a layer of seasoning to my Utopia cast iron skillet. The reason is because adding layer ontop of layer and letting it all polymerize eventually well give you decent non-stick properties regardless if the brand is cheap or not. What matters here is that a cast-iron will behave like other cast irons. All in all. After 5-8 seasonings and just casually adding more layers this skillet is one of my heavy duty, trusty skillet that I know can handle anything I throw at it without rusting or sticking. All you need is just discipline and a little be of reading on the how-tos.

I love these pans
When I moved out to live on my own, I never thought that I would learn to love cookware. Well, I am old now, and I have learned to love cookware–these pans specifically. They are heavy as hell. I love that, the weight. They are red and black. I love that too. Good colors. They heat evenly. They cook evenly. I didn’t know that crappy pans were making me a bad cook before. They were. Bad tools = bad cook. These pans make it easy to poach eggs, and that is supposed to be a difficult task. Improve your game in the kitchen. Buy these pans. Poach eggs. Love yourself a little more.

Pretty color
I was looking for some cast iron frying pans when I saw these. They are really a pretty red color & look great in my kitchen. But I do not think they are pre-seasoned at all. I found if you do not heat the pans up before using the food sticks to them & is not the easiest to get the food off.So I preheat the pans on medium for 5 minutes before using them as I found that works. Otherwise food sticks to them, once you do the preheating of 5 minutes they are able to work great.

Just Okay!
I’ve only used the pans once and on the first use, my eggs were stuck to the pan. They say the pans were pre-seasoned but it doesn’t seem like they were. It took a tough time for me to get the egg out the skillet so I’m not really looking forward to using the other two. These weren’t that expensive so I guess you get what you pay for but overall, they’re just okay. I’m gonna try to re-season them to see if that works but they’re definitely not performing like “non-stick”.

The box looked like it was opened before..
but the pans look untouched and new. I will update at a later date.As far as cheaply priced cast iron go this is not to bad. Alot of the reviews are horrible and I’m not sure if it’s user error or bad products yet. Still I bought it and so far I have no trouble also praying for the best as I just used the tiniest skillet to fry a egg with cheese and it came out well. Is this high quality cast iron with good preseason no of course not but it’s a good set and I can always bake a good season on them later but I do feel that after holding and looking if this set is not taking care of it could crack easily that saidIn my part as soon as I took the little skillet out I put on the hot water on the tap and a drop of dish soap to clean it I scrubbed gently with only my fingers and fingernails after which I dabbed dry with a paper towel. I put the burner in the lowest heat and let it dry out any excess water then I put a tablespoon of butter and a teaspoon of oil to heat up and then fryed my egg the egg didn’t stick but the cheese I let melt on top did leave some residue but that was easy to scrub off with my fingernails and some hot water. After the scrub I once again dabbed dry and finish dry it on low heat on the burner for a minute. After I took a few drops of oil in the still warm pan and wiped it down. I used my finger but for those who don’t want to hold a warm skillet use a cloth like linen or cotton that you will dedicate for using on your cast iron. As of now new cast iron if declared preseasoned is to be taken with a grain of salt, use your cooking oils no new cast iron is truly non stick that takes weeks of use and maintenance. Take it from someone who lived in a house with cast iron dutch oven and pot older than they are.The instructions are there and while basic is useful and will help if followed. YouTube also has great cast iron care videos. Also chainmail scrubbers save cast iron lives and fingers lol.

Don’t trust the preseason and do your research
I did a lot of research on cast iron and maintenance before I bought a cheap set of pans to start off with. We’re from the south and are familiar with it but never used it ourselves. After using non stick pans that have become less desirable after two years I made the plunge and glad I did! I wish I had done it sooner.(Saturday) After cleaning them with hot water and dawn, I warmed them in the over for 5-10mins to get rid of the water. I spent the day seasoning the pans with bacon grease. I did 5 coats and was satisfied with the slickness, glass look, and patina of the iron. I put them up.(Monday) I used my 10in pan for the first time. I made bacon and eggs. Warmed up the pan and it was perfect! Non stick and food seemed to taste better?! I’m not sure but it could just be me.I see a-lot of people saying it’s bad quality because it rusts but that’s what happens with metal when exposed to water. And not all dishwashers dry very well to where water will exit the pan with the washer alone so it would be best to still heat it up in the oven as soon as the dishwasher is done. Also it needs OIL to prevent it from rusting as well. Oil lubricates the metal and keeps it nonstick so after every wash it’s best to oil the pan down and/or season before storage. Using the pan with fatty meats/frying often is also a great way to season the pan without having to oil and heat it for hours. There are plenty of people on YouTube that give steps, you just have to do you research! Cast iron is cast iron and what determines bad quality is HEAT DISTRIBUTION! These are very comparable to more expensive brands without the price!

Proper care
They are a good value for the money you will spend . Anyone who is having issues with them , here’s what you need to know . First , they have a rough finish , as they are pre-seasoned . What did I do ? Sanded that off . It’s not terrible , and will give you that smooth finish you want . Most cast iron that you buy today comes pre-seasoned . Then I washed it with mild dish soap ( think Ivory , or Dawn ) and WARM to HOT soapy water . Dry it using non lint cloth ( cut up on old clean t-shirt ) . Then to make sure it’s perfectly dry turn on a burner on medium and sit the pan on it for 5 minutes . While that’s going on I also turned my oven on to 400 degrees . It’s important to make sure that your pans are perfectly dry so I took the extra precaution of putting them into the oven for 10 minutes . Take them out using oven mitts , oiled them down using some clarified butter (unsalted ) making sure that I wiped down the whole pan , sides , bottom , handle , etc . Now wipe off extra oil put the pans into the oven upside down and bake for one hour . Also put them on the middle rack and line the bottom rack with tinfoil . Repeat the oiling down process and baking process 2 more times . You now have a base seasoning , and a smooth surface . It will now clean up really easy . To do that , run the pan under hot water , will it’s hot , NEVER use cold water ,( it will crack ) , use a wooden spoon to scrape off any food , use a lint free cloth ( piece of clean old cut up t-shirt ) , to dry it and stick it on a turned on burner or turned on oven for 5 minutes . That’s it . When cast iron heats up it is self cleaning , also it won’t rust . Over time you will get the black patina that you want . Then you can even cook acidic foods like tomato-based sauces in it .

nothing wrong with the pans
the only thing I may say negative about the pans. They could have a longer handle and be a little thicker. For the price a very good deal. l read all reviews complaining about rust or how ruff the surface was. Mine came individually sealed in zip lock bags with a moisture absorbing packet enclosed. There was no signs of rust. The ruff surface is due to the new way the iron is cast so the factory can quickly process cookware in bulk using a sprayed on nonstick coating. Even Lodge cookware now has a textured surface. The people that had broken handles were most likely caused by the way Amazon shipped them. Mine were poorly packed. The original manufacturers package was placed in a much larger box with no packing material to stop it from sliding around. Both ends of the Prime box were busted and when l opened it the pans were out of one end of the original package. l was expecting broken handles or missing pans. Cast iron is tuff but very brittle. Between the poor packaging and UPS handling it may have been dropped resulting in the breaks or cracks that caused one poster breaking the handle off while washing. Yes the box says dishwasher safe. Dishwashers are not the place for cast. The combination of soap typically hotter water temperature and long wash cycle will destroy the patina. The humidity involved in the drying cycle will instantly cause rust to form. You will have to strip and season again. Once you learn how to take care of your pans you will love them. l will buy more of these. They will make perfect gifts for friends. A good choice as an inexpensive startup set for young people to learn with.

Perfect Sizes
Purchased these for my husband on father’s day. There is a perfect size for any type of meal you want to make. The small pan is great for eggs, medium pan is wonderful for fried potatoes and the larger on hold plenty of bacon or sausage to go with the potatoes and eggs!

Great value
Have been wanting a set of skillets for a long time. These work really well and they have been pre-seasoned. However you will need to season them a few times again to get the polymerisation to happen properly. They are solid metal and retain heat well. I’ve used them for deep pan pizzas and other dishes and they are excellent. Just be sure to not leave food in them (this is true for all cast iron pans) as they will rust.

The “preseason” is a fad – sticky and rusty
This isn’t my first rodeo with cast iron pans. This nifty little triplet come in different sizes, with the smaller two hardly being big enough to fit anything more than one or two fried eggs in. Oh, and they’re pretty hefty (but manageable).Size often doesn’t matter, it’s what you can do or want to do with it, obviously. However, I used only the largest pan. They come “preseasoned” that makes it appear and the average person think that it’s ready to use out of the box; but do not be fooled by this claim.I put it to the test and used the largest pan right out of the box – the meat was sticking and left an awful residue on the bottom of the pan. I scrubbed it until what seemed like my fingers would bleed and finally got it to a point where I thought it was clean. Onto the next trial!I stripped the pans. And then I reseasoned them quite a few times over a 12 hour period, and then once more the next day. Yes, the smell was not nice but I figured these seemed durable and well made so might as well give them a second chance. I tried the same meal later, unfortunately same issue – things sticking to the bottom and making it nearly impossible to clean.I’ve never had a problem with cast irons sticking so much. Not sure what’s up with these, but preseason or self season didn’t seem to want to stick on the pan.

You gotta read or watch videos about how to use these pans before buying them, they are very good and cook the food great but have a lot of requirements to keep them in good condition. Other than that I think they are the best skillets I ever had.

My Large Pan was Used
I had finally decided to use my large cast iron pan but it was sticky and smelled as it had been used. It was slighty discolored also. The first red flag is the box had literally fallen apart when I received them. I also believe the set was re-wrapped. However, the two smaller pans were a nice size. I was surprised the set of the three cast pans was not very heavy. I wish I could have kept them, but I didn’t appreciate receiving a sticky, discolored pan.

It’s enameled on the outside ONLY!
Initially I was looking for an inexpensive set of enameled cast iron pans set as a non stock alternative to the highly unhealthy and chemicalized aluminum, non stick titanium diamond, etc, etc. Was disappointed that they weren’t enameled inside and out. However I really like these pans and cook with all 3 almost everyday! I have learned to follow the instructions and LET THEM COOL DOWN FIRST BEFORE YOU TRY TO CLEAN THEM! If you don’t you risk the chance of rusting them especially if you don’t apply a dime size amount of oil!Oh and don’t dry them with paper towels on the inside either or you’ll have remnants inside of your cast iron.

Decent pans
Requires multiple seasonings. Wash only with soap, hot water, and soft sponge, never scowering pads.
